Which spironolactone do you guys prefer to use, especially on the hairline, 2% or 5%. I currently purchased the 2% spironolactone from Dr Lee and just want to make sure that 2% is effective enough. I am thinking of applying it once during the night. Can you guys advise any different. Thanks.

I think most guys here use the 5% cream on the hairline and the 2% for diffuse areas where it's easier to apply than the cream. As far as effectiveness, I believe I've read where the 2% solution may actually be more effective than the 5% cream....absorption maybe? I've been using both myself, although mostly the 2% solution because I've been getting pimples on my scalp that I'm blaming on the 5%.

I believe you should also use it at least twice a day for maximum effectiveness as spironolactone apparently has a short half life...I'm not an expert on this though so I could be wrong.

I've been using 5% spironolactone throught my hair with a buzzed cut and it works great. I apply it about 10 minutes after minoxidil... I've recently been growing my hair out and I understand that the cream is much harder to apply with longer hair. Is it still possible to continue with the 5% or should I do what the majority do (5% for temples and hairline and 2% for everything else)?

My hair is usually grown out and the 2% is by far much easier to apply to the scalp, just like using minoxidil. You can use the 5%, but don't expect it to last a month or get even coverage, because you will end up using more than you should because some will be applied to the hair and you will have to overcompensate. Of course I know it is easy enough to apply the 5% to the temples and hairline, but is it proven or shown by personal accounts to work significantly better?
