Been on here for about 2 years, since my hair loss seriously kicked in.

Dont post too much, just like to read.
Wanted to tell all about my regimen and hair loss life so far.

Started on propecia everyday for almost a year, then proscar. Still on.
My Fiance and I had a beautiful healthy baby girl last week. No problems, even with the meds. My Fiance does not go NEAR the meds. I wash my mouth out after popping proscar even. Just in case...

Used dermatch, liked it, but havent used it in many months. Its good, but I hate applying it. But worth the money if the color matches your hair. Works through anything if applied right. Good for social events, swimming to look your best.

Taking green tea, salmon oil, and a great multivitamin. Also fruit and protein shakes daily.

Using Nizoral 1% and loving it. I bought 5 bottles of the 2% from another country when visiting and it was surpringly cheap.
Some days I think the 1% works better, though.

I do use T-Gel, the brown tarry smelling crap shampoo. I like its effect, but DAMN, does that stuff smell. After applying it, a couple hours later my head just stinks of it and oil. I really hate it. Gets worse after Dr. Lee minoxidil is applied.

Used to wear hats all the time, but my hair is getting better. Not overnight. NO WAY.
Took about 2 years just to "feel comfortable" with my hair and its state.

My sex drive does take major hits, unfortunately.

I bought this thickening serum in CVS once. I love it. Makes my hair feel and look so much fuller. I forget the name though. Its in a green bottle.

After 2 years, I hate the cost and the maintenance, but I still go through it daily to keep what I have.
All in all, its doing good.

I have to admit that my best "hair days" are when I stopped using anything for the hairloss for a couple days. Maybe to gather up some sex drive or out of being flat out too busy to even pop a pill. But, I love my hair after I stop using for about 3-4 days. Even though I am so afraid if I miss one pill or minoxidil app, that my hair will immediately fall out. Though I know that is crazy. I always start back hardcore on my regimen after short breaks. The breaks dont include t-gel and nizoral though, just minoxidil and Proscar.

Since I noticed my hair loss I have had one shed. Lasted about 2 months. October-December of 2005. When its cold out. I thought my regimen had failed me, but its doing good now.

Still not used to the fact that I am balding. STILL.
Still not a pro on the whole hair loss battle though.
Want to know how anyone gets a good hair style after applying minoxidil? M<ine looks dark and sticky, and my scalp starts to show. And it smells.
I also dont know how long after applying can I shower? 4 hours I thought Dr. lee told me. So that is what I do.

Thats all for now. Good luck to everyone else

I am 24, just turned.
Started seriously thinning at 22.
Me and my GF have never discussed my hair.
She never says anything about it and I keep my maintenance sort of secret.

Hey All

I just gotta say, letting your girlfriend (partner for those with alternative lifestyles!) know about your male pattern baldness is one of the most liberating things you can do.

With all my previous girlfriends (well, those girls since my male pattern baldness kicked in) I have kept my hair loss, hair loss regimen and everything associated a close secret. Since no one, not even a girlfriend, has even detected my hair loss it was never a problem, other than being a pain in the arse having to sneak off to apply my minoxidil (or skip applications) and discreetly popping my pill in the morning!

I have been seeing my current girl for about 6 months now, and about 2 months ago I just thought – “F*ck it – this girl loves me, I love her, I’m going to tell herâ€￾. So I told her… everything… I even had a shower, combed my hair, wet to make the loss most noticeable and this was her reaction:

“Oh – well yeah, I guess I can see it [male pattern baldness] when you comb your hair like that. It’s nothing, no one can tell when your hair is dry and I don’t care if you go bald anyway. Just make sure you shave your head and don’t try to do a combover or anything!!â€￾.

Her reaction about the fact I have a hair loss regimen and pop pills and use magic potions:

“I agree that you should do everything you can to keep it, but only because it makes you feel better. I don’t care, but I think it’s great that you’re so solution focussed! I’ll help you put stuff in your hair if you want me to!â€￾

So now I can get out of the shower at night with confidence, put minoxidil in my hair, pop finasteride at my leisure and not have my girlfriend bat an eyelid. Quite the contrary, she smiles, says she thinks it’s cute and offers to help!

Anyway, my two cents.

Cheers

Def

PS. I guess it helps that I’m now 28 years old, my girl is 27 (and a psychologist at that), and that I’m 6’2â€￾ and she 5’5â€￾ so she rarely sees the top of my head anyway!!

When I told my girlfriend she was so understanding and it made me feel so much better. I actually think it brought us closer because I told her how upset I was about male pattern baldness, and I think she was touched by the fact I had shared my concern and feelings with her. Chicks dig that!

My ex was really understanding when I finally confided in her about my norwood worries.

It's a shame she wasn't so understanding when I gave her chlamydia.
