Hi
This will be my very first thread on this forum.
Since childhood I've had ridiculously high forehead and no hair at temples, I was too young then to care about it. I've just thought is was perfectly normal. I'm 20 years old now and I have rather the same hairline as 6-7 years old but I've understood, that this type of hairline isn' something normal for my age. My hair (their colour and density) was probably my only good facial feature and I'm really afraid of losing it.
Just look at this photo - It has got minimally worse than a few years ago, so there is some probability of male pattern baldness kicking in?

My father is 44 now and his hairline is almost NW3, and my grandfather from mother's side had NW2 until his death.
I don't know the real grandfather from my father's side and that's one of the reasons I am afraid of further hair loss.

What should I do? I've never had NW0 (even when I was 6-7 years old) so is there any possibility of restoring frontal hairline (even though I've never had temple points)

Thanks in advance for advice, etc.

Well, at first glance, nw3... but since you said your hairline has always been like that, then I'd say you have nothing to worry about, especially if your grandfather on your mothers side had a nw2. There are less common cases of two brothers for instance with one having no hair loss, but you just have to trust your judgement on it based on old photos etc.

If of course you have lost hair, there are definitely treatments out, or you could always just add some via transplant.

Hey buddy,

Hair density doesn't look bad. The only indication of male pattern baldness are those peculiar temples. You say they've always been that way, is that male pattern baldness-denial speak or is that the absolute truth? I don't mean to come across as mean, but let's face it, a lot of us (including me) go into denial about our hair loss before accepting it's happening.

If your temples have always been that way, then no, don't worry about going bald for now. Yes, genetic indicators might suggest you'll have a little more hair loss going forward, but that's something you'll just have to keep an eye on. When I first realized I was going bald I could literally pull a strand of hair from my affected areas and pull another from the back of my head and compare the two. The one from the back was like three times as thick as the one from the top. That's when I knew I had a problem.

If your temples have been receding, then it's possible you may experience more male pattern baldness in the future.

My advice for now is to leave it alone, stressing over it will only make it worse. If you see more recession or signs of balding, then come back to us for all the advice you need.
