Hey guys. I'm currently 20 and I've been worried about hairloss pretty recently.

Here's my hair: https://imgur.com/a/tn9zYoE

I've noticed a little bit a thinning in the corners, but none on the front of my hairline at all, and my hair overall is pretty thick and grows quickly. I've compared my hairline and where it sits relative to my eyes and the lines on my forehead, and it's been the same for over 5 years and pretty much since I was a kid.

For my family history, my dad has a perfect head of hair in his 50s, and my paternal grandfather had a good head of hair in his 60s before he passed away. For my mom's side, my maternal grandfather went bald in his 50's and 60's. The only uncle I have is like a norwood 3 in his 50's, with pretty heavy temple recession but his hairline has only moved back a bit.

What do you guys think?

Do you think it will stabilize or maybe it's a mature hairline? My temples have always been pretty far back, and I don't have a family history of early balding really

I’d say yes, because your temples look like they’ve receded a little bit. Besides that, you still have a very nice head of hair and it’s hard to predict how it’s going from here. Since your 20 and hair loss already started, I wouldn’t count on stabilization, but for some people it just works that way. Temples recede a bit and it stays the same for god knows how long. Also if you say your temples have always been a bit furthers back, who knows!

It's irritating because there's no one my family who's hair looks like mine from what I can tell... my maternal grandfather went bald but later in life and had completely different hair from mine. Only person's hair who's looks like mine kind of is my uncle who pretty much was a norwood 2.5-3 in his 30s and it's only gotten slightly worse so if that happens to me i don't care. Just makes trying to predict my future difficult. It's been really bugging the hell out of me the last few months so maybe I'll schedule a visit with a dermatologist or something and see what they have to say. If my recession is pretty slow (which it seems like to me) I'll be fine with that.

Visiting a dermatologist is never a bad idea! And yes, it might be going slow but there’s no way to predict really. Maybe keep an eye on it for a bit and see how it develops?

got some more pics.

Here's my hair. https://imgur.com/m6hXUyi

Here's my maternal grandfather's hair at 25. https://imgur.com/6000FH5

Here's my dad in his late 20's. https://imgur.com/a/gpXrf0p

Here's my paternal grandfather in his 60's. https://imgur.com/x0ALXhI

Here's my hairline as a really young kid. as you can see, i've always had the same hairline where it goes near my top forehead wrinkle and then bends in on the sides. https://imgur.com/oyfHqmH

Does it look like I'm going to follow my maternal grandfather's path?

The only reason I'm worrying is because I've been experiencing increased shedding since the summer (or me being aware or it) I'm noticing some hairs on my desk, some on my pants sometimes. In the shower I usually get a hair or two everytime I run my hands through my hair, and if I shake my hair over my desk for a minute I can get anywhere from 10-20 hairs. Usually longer hairs, but some shorter hairs as well.

However, during the day if I run my hands through my hair I sometimes get one hair, but I've been noticing more hairs on my desk and around in general (but I might just be becoming more paranoid)

Did your density take a hit or does it still look and feel the same?

When your worried about hair loss, it is possible that you can really start focusing on it and notice every little hair that falls. It’s hard to compare the shedding now to pre hair loss, as you probably weren’t paying attention to it. I think the average person loses somewhere from 100 to 150 hairs a day so if you pay attention to all these single hairs you’re gonna see a lot!

Also shedding isn’t everything. Some people shed like a dog but don’t really go bald and some never really see any sped up hair fall but do go bald. So my advice, just keep an eye on your overall density.

My density is the same and my hair grows as fast as ever (I have to get haircuts every 3 weeks to a month) but I have noticed a little miniaturization on my left temple. There’s absolutely no miniaturization on my hairline that’s been the same since I was a kid, but I’ve noticed some miniaturization on my temples.

I’ll upload some more pictures in a bit.
