21 y/o started Propecia, got questions

I'm nearly 22 y/o and about 4 months ago I noticed that in the frontal area (1 inch into my hairline) my hair seemed less dense. It's not noticeable yet but I know it's happening. Also I'm a little more then a Norwood class 2 which is ok but around my corners I have a piece of short hairs and if these fall of I'll be a NW3 which is no good! So I went to get a miniturization test done, and the hair specialist said I have miniturization in the frontal area and mid-anterior and it's significant for my age. So I just started taking Propecia a week ago. My question is, can propecia make my front fuller again and help those short hairs at my temples grow normal again and help me prevent from becoming a NW3?

As for my genes, only my father had hair loss and mother's brother but both were in their 30s when it began, everybody else had hair especially grandfathers so this shocks me to lose hair so young! This is something I didn't think that would happen till bout a decade later or not at all.

absolutely, it will likely at least stop the progression, and most people do get some regrowth. It is always best to start early as you have. Keep at it though, it may be 4 months until you see some regrowth, which can take over a year.

Thanks that sounds better. You see I still got plent of hair and I just need a little fill up, I mean damn even about 8-10 months ago my hair was still good a solid NW2 which is totally normal and one day BAM.

im not quite sure itll give u more density at the front to what u think, it may help u maintain.... i havn't seen anyone with massive 'noticeable' in physical hair mass - improvements on this board purely from propecia... all the big growths are from stimulants...

What stimulants?

minoxidil (Rogaine) I think

Propecia is a 100x more effective in growing hair then Rogaine! Rogaine can halt your loss but regrowth is usually some short fine hairs like peach fuzz if it happens at all.

But Propecia has not proven to help frontal hair loss, it is more the mid-section of the scalp or the crown. Look at the photos on here people regrew a lot of hair in the front hairline with Rogaine.

This is not true at all. Minoxidil has been shown to regrow more hair than Propecia. Propecia is much better at maintaining. The best results can be obtained from using the two together as the lowered DHT environment created by Propecia will make the minoxidil much more effective at regrowth.

That is backwards.

Quit making crap up if you don't know what you are talking about.

Here are the success stories, all at least have propecia in them:

I really think you are right! Rogain only grows like 10-15% of the time something while Propecia gives 60%+ chance to regrow hair. But of course a combo of both is better but Rogaine is too much damn work.

I thought the same as you- man no way rogaine is too much work but it isnt.

not as simple as 1 pill a day, but appplying a bit of liquid to your head twice a day isnt hard.

But the other problem is, I still have a lot of hair (my hair loss ain't noticeable except for me) how can I rub Rogaine in? I know you can't rub it into hair it has to go into the scalp.

Hell no! I think you are confusing the stopping hairloss is 85%. For rogaine the regrowth is like 10-15% and for Propecia is 2/3 of men see regrowth.

Where are you getting your information from? Are you just making stuff up as you go along? The percentage of those that see regrowth from Rogaine is much higher than 10-15%

You may want to do some research before giving advice and making statements regarding products that are incorrect.

im in the same situation as you- early stages of hair loss, its just thinning a bit atm. i just squeeze the rogaine onto the affected area & wait for it to dry out. it sinks in nicely on its own, just becareful aboutsqueezing too much letting it run all over the place aside from the mess ur also wasting the liquid.
