I had always thought this was 'just' my hairline, until my girlfriend starting playing with my hair and remarked that I might be balding...naturally, this shocked me, so I put the question to you: am I balding? And if so, what should I do to minimize hair loss? Pics attached. I believe my hairline vaguely resembles #2 from here.

edit: btw, my father and paternal grandfather have full heads of hair, my grandfather on my mother's side died at 48 and as far as I know was not balding.

First of all comb your hair backwards, but if you ask me you are not balding.

I'd say no. That's just a mature hairline.

Relax about it, if you do notice things get worse then you'll be able to do something about it then and most likely get any hair lost back then.

Maybe promise yourself to check it every three months.

I would also say "mature hairline" looks good from here. keep your eyes open to any changes.

See the thing is a little hair loss is considered a "mature hairline" by charts and doctors but most average people look at any hair that you lost and assume your balding or going bald even if its literally like a tiny bit of temple recession so I dont know. It looks like a mature hairline but if you had hair in any of those places before then you have lost hair whether it keeps going is anyone's guess. Not having a history of male pattern baldness does not always mean your safe though since no one even knows how that for sure how it works basically it can come from any generation in your family mom or dad side so just watch it.
