21 Years Old - Mature Hairline Or Balding?

Hello everyone, I never thought I would ever create a thread on a website like this. I turned 21 this year and since about 3 years I noticed subtle receding of my hairline in the temple area - mostly the left temporal area. I’m becoming more and more concerned about this, because I literally love my hair and the thought that I will be bald before I turn 30 drives me f****** miserable. I would like to know if there is a chance this is just a process of my hairline getting more mature. Sorry for my english and let me know what you think of this.

It looks like male pattern baldness. Too far back to be just mature hairline. Make an appointment to see a hair specialist/surgeon to discuss finasteride and minoxidil treatment plan. I started finasteride at 21 and I was less receded than you. I essentially have the same hairline still at 37.

I also got receded hairline and my parents don't see it and I don't want to start discussing it. I'll probably never do anything about it. Those teenage years we had the best hair... I'm always jealous when I see a healthy hairline. But there are so many balding men so I don't feel isolated.

Sorry to raid your post mate but i don’t know how to share my message in forums.

so I’m 25 years old and I think i am noticing signs of balding on the crown of my head.

I’ll start by saying I suffer from a over reactive thyroid gland(I have graves disease) which i discovered about 8 months ago. I am on the following medication daily;
-carbimazole 5mg
-propranolol 10mg

I’ll also mention I lost my job 6 months ago. So stress may be a factor.

My head feels itchy recently.

Anyway Ive added some photos. Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

1 YEAR UPDATE

So it’s been one year since the beginning of my treatment and I wanted to share my results - I feel happy and I think that balding is stalled and that my density improved and I think that I am close to Norwood 2 (prior to Norwood 2.5 before treatment). I tried to take the pictures more or less one month after haircut at the barber’s.

Here are the pictures:

My routine is:
1. Finasteride 1mg once per day in the morning since 6 months
2. Minoxidil 2 times per day 1ml in the morning and 1ml in the evening (been on it for a year)
3. Nizoral 2-3 times per week
4. Dermarolling 1.5mm once per week
5. Biotin tablet everyday
6. Nettle root extact everyday
7. Scalp massages under shower everyday (about 2-3 minutes)
8. Vitamin D during autumn and winter days

I am wondering if I can get even better results over time or is it the best I can do because I have been on min for a year and some people say that after one year it reached it’s full potential and on other hand idk if finasteride will to contribute to my regrowth or it only stopped my hairloss which is a big success already.

So I’m back and these pictures show how my hair looks now. I have been taking finasteride for almost a year now same with dermarolling (1.5mm) and I switched from 5% minoxidil twice per day to 15% once a day and have been using the 15% one for 3 months now.

Looks like you have slightly improved at the hair line but your density is definitely much better and healthier looking. Nice work.

Its legit impossible to know weather its a mature hairline or not.. Even with Mature hair lines they tend to continue to recede and get worse as time goes on.. The first signs of male pattern baldness, are thinning in the temple/crown region. If you have these signs, chances are it will get worse before it ever gets better.. Your scalp is DHT sensitive, the only way to stop/slow down the hair loss would be with A DHT blocker like finasteride . Some people thin/bald up until a certain area and than stop completley. My dads a perfect example of this. he had the same hairline now in his 60s than he had in his late 30s.. Everybodys scalp is different.. If you lose alot of hair in your younger years. chances are youll lose it more of it as you go into your later years..
