I've been on the big 3 for the past 2 years now, and although they have helped, I still have a horrible hairline for a 22 year old. I'm tall and fit, up until the last month where I have done ZERO physical activity due to back surgery I needed done. Is there anything else you guys think I could use that might help, or am I just stuck with this hairline now? My father is bald, and both of my grandfathers are as well. Temples began thinning about 3-4 years ago.

your hair looks good but the temples and only the temples have receded,im in much the same boat and i think the only real solution is a hair transplant for them and the big three for the rest..............but really ,especially from the front your hair looks totally fine :)

I was jonxed with the double bald grand pappy thing too. The only benefit from that is that I knew I was going to be bald by the time I was like 8. So, it wasn;t much of a shock as it must be to some people. That's some pretty bad recession, has it at least stabilized? You have decent enough hair on top, much better than I did at your age. My hairline hasn;t moved for over a decade now, although the top has gone to sh!t. As far as what to do, it's tough. Stay with the finasteride and get yourself psychologically ready for whats ahead. It's awesome that you work out. Hope you get better. Good luck.

I think, and hope, that it has stabilized. I've got some pictures from a vacation a few years ago that look pretty bad, but I would say pretty much the same. I just feel too young for this and it sucks that I've had to deal with it for some years now. A lot of people on here complaining have no real loss going on at all, which is kind of a slap in the face. I didn't know if anyone had any suggestions for temple recession. Top has been thinning, but I recently started doing the minoxidil foam on top as well, so hopefully that will give me a bit more density..Maybe a longer haircut? I've always been partial to a buzz though.

Oh jeez that is not pretty bad recession. Think about things before you post them.

He's like NW2, maybe NW2.5 at worst. His temples really haven't gone up that much. Hard to tell from the pics but it's certainly not "pretty bad" recession.

Your hair looks pretty good in those pics. The temples are receded a bit but other than that it doesn't look like you have much thinning anywhere else (could just be the pics, I don't know). If you've been on the big 3 for 2 years already I don't think it's still gonna make a huge improvement in those areas. I think you look fine in those pics - you have a well shaped head for short / buzzed hair.

So if hair transplant is out of the question and you don't wish to buzz it completely just to hide the temple recession, I would suggest getting a haircut to suit and conceal it slightly. Maybe keep it the same length on top but take the sides and back down a gauge or two, possibly even a 1 gauge. That way your receded temples will blend in with the short hair on the sides and reduce that "balding" look.

Good luck anyway!

i don't think your hair looks bad at all either. The good thing is, your temples haven't receeded inward towards your tuft in the middle (like me). This creates a thin island on top which it does not look like you have. I think the buzz cut looks pretty damn good. If you were to grow it out a couple of inches i think you could also style it to look pretty good too.

I dont get the shaving theories here. I think growing it out longer and maybe getting some bangs combed over the temples would hide the recession.

Wouldn't shaving it shorter on the sides and back help reduce the contrast between the receded area and the normal area, therefore reducing the overall appearance of the recession? I would've thought that looks better than trying to hide it by combing hair over it... I'd only do that if I had really thick hair on top that I could grow to a few inches long.

Taugenichts would say he is NW5. He should resign himself to only getting an ogre as a girlfriend.

It's okay, original poster. Just join the rest of us human trash in the dumpster.

Yes, but according to him, the top is thinning as well. The last thing I'd want to do is grow the hair on top long if it's started thinning. That's usually when it looks its worst isn't it?

Hey buddy that's basically what's happening to me only I have it more on the right side.... then again my hairline has always been lopsided. I still look ok, but I can't seem to get the "future" out of my head.

For those of you criticizing him for over-hyping his hair loss... maybe many of you are further along and don't remember, but for some of us.... the initial shock of hair loss is really emotional and it seems to happen so fast. I thought I had taken care of it 10 years ago by starting propecia and rogaine..... only recently has my hair started receding again and i'm in shock myself. It's hard to handle..... everyone should know this. Hair loss is an evil evil issue..... why it even exists I'll never understand. Women bleed every month, they tend to age quicker (looks-wise), they push watermelon sized people out of them, but they don't have to deal with hair loss.... it's the one thing men have to deal with and it sure does sting! It's an awful awful curse!

and BTW you look good so don't worry...... if it progresses further.... you're still young..... maybe you'll be lucky enough to benefit from HM in the near future and this issue will be a distant memory. :)

I have the same hairloss as you. I am 25 and would say mine is a little more progressed with my right side also worse then the left. Top is slightly thinning and that shows more on the right side where my recession is worse.

I Get a short haircut I.E. Military type style (Short on sides with some length on top), Looks best this way to me which makes me more confident in my daily life. Growing it out looks nasty and it is so much easier to style short. I think trying to hide it by growing it out shows the hairloss just as bad but in a different way.
