Thanks everyone. You've really given me some great advice. I want to keep my hair as long as I can and I want to grow it long. Will it hinder my results if I don't cut it short whilst I'm on minoxidil and finasteride?

Nah you should be fine with keeping it longer. Since your hair loss is so minor you might just want to try Finasteride alone for a year. But if you really want results fast you can start on both Finasteride and minoxidil.

I saw your pictures in the other thread. Yes you crown is starting to thin but it's very minor. Thankfully Finasteride and minoxidil work best of the crown area so you should see good results.

Also... I doubt it's the hard hat that is causing it. Other men wear hard hats all day and aren't affected. You can blame genetics, again. Hope all goes well for ya mate.

I'd rather start on the finasteride and see how it goes before I start on the minoxidil, I'd find it easier to keep using the finasteride daily and keep motivated and I would struggle to keep applying the minoxidil every day

Start with 1 mg. Or 1.25 mg if you're cutting up 5 mg pills into 4ths.

I think I'll just start with the 1mg. How long should I wait and see before I decide if its working or not? If I start to get bad sides, how long should I leave them for to see if they are just initial temporary or not?

Wait at least a year to see if it's working. And I'm not too sure about sides as I honestly never got sides on finasteride.
