Seems a good time to start a treatment indeed, you're in your early twenties and you want to catch it early, good move.
As for dosage, .5mg is also a good decision, take it for at least 6 months, check your progress and maybe increase to 1mg
Are you shedding a lot ? When did you noticed your hairloss ? For how long are you balding ?
finasteride results will be clear at a 12months mark, not before
That's what I am thinking, I don't think my hair is that bad as of now, just want to hold what I have and possibly get new growth. Not much shedding at all to be honest, probably noticed about 3 years ago? I think its just slowly receding but why not be smart and get an early jump. Just worried about the sides! Are you on it?
Yep, for 14 years, now 32y old, not much i can do about it, if i quit i'm fucked and will be NW7 in a year or so, but god i despise this drug having some tiredness with it, but sex drive is still good.Anyway, you still should be careful with it.
I asked those questions to see if you're agressively balding, and it doesn't seem so, you definetly should go see a dermatologist and do a Trichoscopy before jumping on it, to be certain.
Also compare your current status with your highschool pictures
Yeah see that's why I am skeptical! well at least you've held onto your hair, and I posted another picture above of my hairline at 15 or 16. See what you think of that? Ill definitely consult with a Doctor before as well thanks for the advice.
There's some temporal recession...not much but it's here, i'm no expert, derm consult is a part of the starter pack ^^
Honestly, if I were you, I wouldn't get on finasteride yet. You have a naturally high and receded looking hairline which i'm guessing you had since birth looking at the 15 year old pics. It is normal to lose some hairline slowly as you age. You seem to have no thinning across your scalp and have very thick hair which means you wouldn't be going bald anytime soon. Unless your family(especially ur dad) has a lot of young norwood 6 and 7s then I would not get on finasteride right now. I also don't think finasteride would do much for you. But yeah talk it over with your derm and do whatever you feel comfortable doing. Goodluck!
you think? I am just worried about the sides. I didn't want to start too early. You on it? I feel like my hair isn't that bad? you think a norwood 1.5-2 or what bruv?
hey man, your hair still looks great and I think starting on a low dose of finasteride can keep it for many years, maybe even regrow some if you respond well!anyone else's thoughts??
you must be insane to say hes above NW2 if youve been on this forum for a yearWell, I know I have aggressive hair genes which is why I got on it. You might not and if you don't I guess you don't have to get on it, but I personally would not take that gamble.
I think you're a tad bit higher than nw2. finasteride is more wise for preventing rather than regrowing which is why I would think that it'd be better, but that's just my opinion. You can always ask a derm

if you get sides from 1mg youll get them from .25 too. Just take the real thing, it's not any safer to go with a quarter
