Hi, im 23 years old and i want to know what can i do to prevent hair lose (shampooo, medication, etc). I heard that one of the first signs is that you notice is the receding hairline (usually in the forehead zone and the crown zone) but i havent seen any of this, but i have seen that my hair is thinning.
About genetics, my father is bald, but from the side of my mother my uncle and grandfather have a lot of hair, even my grandfather with 90 years old has a lot of hair. But from my father side, my grandfather is not completly bald but he dosent have much hair, however my paternal uncle has a lot of hair too. So looks like only my father is bald from my family.
I have a really greasy hair, i need to wash it every day even after few hours my hair looks dirty and the next day is really oily (if i pass my hand in my head i can see that my hand gets very oily). I try to not use hot water or hair dryer (because i heard that heat can worse the greassy problem).
I use a shampoo called klorane here is the link (https://www.amazon.com/Klorane-Sham...8&qid=1536972213&sr=1-2&keywords=klorane&th=1)
What are your recomendations? can i sart using finasteride or saw palmetto or minoxedil or what?
thanks

ketoconazole shampoo (nizoral) will help with the greasy hair too. Many people complain it fries their hair, but if you have greasy hair, it shoulldn't be too bad for you. Maybe you can use it every day.

Also think about adding a microneedling regimen.

Finasteride 1mg daily and ketoconazole shampoo 3 times a week

Thank you all.

I have some questions, hope someone can answer me: Should i use a shampoo that only contains ketoconazole or can i use this one that contains other things and has some really good reviews inclouding in amazon https://store.dslaboratories.com/products/revita-shampoo?variant=12700096135238

Should i use Finasteride 1mg for the rest of my life? Or how long is the treatment?

Im not very familized with the microneedling, is this thing the microneedle?

Basically, finasteride lowers your body's dht levels (by around 70% on average). DHT is believed to be the biggest culprit in hair loss, however, there's anecdotal stories and theories that other androgens may also have a lesser role in hair loss. The problem with finasteride is that some people claim to receive sides from it. You'll have to research these side effects and risks. For what it's worth, I'm on finasteride for almost 3 months now and while I believe that sides may exist with some people, I believe they're exaggerated. If finasteride works for you, then stopping it will definitely restart the hair loss. Unfortunately, it's an ongoing thing.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use a different shampoo as well. Maybe use the nizoral, massage it into your scalp, leave it in there for 5 minutes (10 if you can tolerate it), rinse and then use the other shampoo.

Thank you very much. Im a little confuse about what is nizoral, is a ashampoo brand or is an alternative name for ketoconazole?
Because i found this one on walmart.

It's a shampoo brand that contains ketoconazole. There are a few others that also contain ketoconazole, but I can't remember their names.

What country are you from? In the u.s., you need a prescription for 2% ketoconazole shampoo. I just buy the 1% stuff because I don't feel like getting a prescription.

Hello OP

FWIW I would recommend a shampoo that not only has ketoconazole but also saw palmetto extract and biotin. Perhaps caffeine as well. Shy away from peptides, sulfates and xenoestrogens found in the less expensive shampoos.

Think of your hair like a 1996 Honda Civic. Back in the day you could put the shittiest gas and cheapest oil in it and it would still be beautiful and work flawlessly. But now it looks a lot rougher and the chicks don’t dig it so much and just to keep it going you have to put premium 91 in it and change it out with race quality oil every week.

Best of luck :]
