I'm a 24 yr old male who has a pretty full head of hair. About 2 yrs ago I slowly noticed a slight recede in my hair and slight thinning on the top of my head. Also slight thining on the crown. I have excellent coverage still but I can tell by the time Im 30 I will have lost alot more hair. My brother is 32 and is VERY thin. I have been using Nioxin for 8 months and it seems to have helped my hair but it still looks a little thin in some spots. People have commented that Im going thin. I have bought rogaine foam but I'm scared to use it. My question is should I use this product if I still have excellent coverage. I have been doing tons of research online and have heard horror storries about shedding and such. Any opinons or advice is much appreciated.

kinda sounds like my situation. im 27 and the top of my head started thinning very noticeably within the last 2-3 years(although i first noticed some change when i was around 20 or so) my temples receded a couple inches back also. i started using foam 6 months ago and nizoral 1% shampoo 5 months ago and now my hair is much thicker and healthier on top and my temples have slightly started to come back. i never experienced a bad shed like others talk about but sometimes i would notice more hair on my fingers than others when applying the foam (may have been the extent of my shed). i used to be able to rub my head and see lots of hair falling out, and also all over the inside of my hats. since starting rogaine my hair has honestly stopped falling out it seems. if you do start, be patient because these things take a while. i still believe my situation may continue to improve, if not i am happy with my current results regardless.

Thank you for your reply it is greatly appreciated. I figure hoepfully it wont hurt to try. I'm just afraid of making my hair worse. I have used 2 applcations of it. I did notice a slight headache and a little bit of lightheadness. Im going to stick with it and continue to use nioxin and nizoral every 3 days.

yeah, rogaine has grown some hair for me on the top and the front also. i use like half a capful(?) for my crown which has very noticeably filled in. and then i put a capful (?) and apply it directly on top of my head and rub it in really well into the top, temples and towards the front. i should say i get rogaine for free so that is why im not worried about how much i use. i havent experienced any side effects that i know of from using more than recommended but some ppl may be different. i think some people that say they dont get results arent using enough, especially since the foam is harder to get into the scalp. just make sure that you rub it in really well.
