Stopping treatment and losing all your hair in one year will always be far more traumatic than gradually losing it over the years. Don’t delude yourself.
24M, significant diffuse thinning and receding hairline - is this salvageable?

December update.
Restarted finasteride 0.5 daily for the last 6 weeks, dick worked fine with 2 girls over the last 2 months. My concerns around sensitivity reducing I think were mostly placebo. I may have a slightly reduced libido but I still get morning wood 1-3 times a week which doesn’t seem less than pre-finasteride.
Hair is not far off the longest it’s been atm and the beard is coming through despite the DHT reduction! With flash you can still see areas of thinness and the hair styles I can pull off are limited, but I can’t complain.
Also, compare the hair on the back of my head to the first pictures, insane!
It may seem like doing all of this might make me forget about about my impending baldness, but in a way I see it as an extension to the time I have my youthful hair and therefore given me more time to accept balding. Though the effect of such a drastic, acute change in appearance on mental health cannot be understated, and ‘accepting’ hair loss can seem like a mountain that you just can’t climb. But with time, the pieces come together. My father lost his hair when he was younger than I was, but he still managed to get with some pretty good looking ladies. Just ranting at this point, but just know I feel you guys. Even doctors I work with are affected by this. Nobody is immune to the psychological implications, but like any pain, it gets better with time.

I meant this. Some think it's DUPA or retrograde, but I don't think so. In the normal pattern this area also thins out

0.5g a day atm, fine with it. No effect on my thinking and no gyno. Morning wood about the same as before.

Have had a haircut and it looks a lot thinner than it did in my December post - lots of hairs being shed, hoping that it is just a finasteride shed (or it a result of me reintroducing liquid minoxidil on my temples?) as I’ve not been back on it for that long. Possibly will employ the buzz if I can’t get it to look any fuller (will be nice to see an updated buzz photo anyway!)

is finasteride shedding really a thing? i read on reddit about it being a thing after say 2-3 months, i'm hoping this is the cause of it because my hair is really quite thin atm, gonna try to be more strict with the 2x daily minoxidil but my hair just looks so sh*t with it in it.

I did the 1.5mm all over the scalp with a derma stamp, and next Day I had more shedding than usual. Tbh it just causes breakage in the Long run and hair falls easier. The needles Will hit the hair despite parting the hair. And a guy said he did a biopsy and it showed minor scarring in skin.

Topical dont work for me so im trying oral. Oral i was on it for 2.5 months no change to hair but still Early to see results, i quit it for 3 weeks due to a Side effect. Then re started it, now on it for like a month but I upped the dose to twice daily and use 20mg in total now so time will tell.

Considering to buzz it while it’s shedding like this. Will defo post a buzzed pic if I do, will be interesting to see a closer comparison to the last time I buzzed it.
