So i am 25 years old and my dad is bald, i'm 184 cm, not very muscular and i am hoping to keep what is left of my current hair for as many days, months or years that i can, i do not want to take propecia because i am honestly terrified by all the negative effects it has, especially ED. so far i havent done any measures to fight alopecia, and i would appreciate any tips that is working for slowing down hairloss.
oh yeah, and im moving to Korea this summer, for a few years, so i would really want to keep my hair at least until then. i do not have any idea how fast my hairloss is going on right around now, but when i wash my hair i typically lose around maybe 30-40 hairs. maybe more maybe less, hard to tell.

There is no other treatment that can stop your hair loss, if it's male pattern baldness. All the alternative cures are a waste of time.

Fighting male pattern baldness in 2017 resumes to potentialy lose your dick for a fistful of hair. It's sad that 20 years down the line nothing has evolved in the field, but it's just how it is.

Saying you want to keep your hair but not take finasteride is like saying you're hungry but won't eat.

Only way to get er done. Sides or not.

I've chosen hair over my sex drive. Saddens me every day.

Yeah, i get that, i would also choose my hair over sex drive, the thing i am worried about tho is the chance of getting ED for life.

You can always try topical finasteride. I have yet to read anyone getting PFS from topical use.

you are 25 years old already with pretty deep recession> I predict by the time you are 28 you will probably be at the stage where you just have to shave it. You are lucky you have a thick crown however you need to really reconsider you stance on finasteride IMO. Getting ED for life from finasteride is just very unlikely. If you get on finasteride your hair will most likely improve and you will be able to keep it that way for at least a decade if not more.

If you are not going to get on finasteride, all you can do is rogaine and nizoral.

I have been on it for just over 2 years now. The only side effect I have noticed is slightly lowered sex drive and I think for the majority of guys on here that is about as far as the sides go. I havn't experienced any mental fog, or reduced performance in the gym.

So yeah lowered sex drive sounds bad, and it has reduced maybe 15% but my erection quality and ability to get one hasn't declined at all. I think this is where it comes down to the individual, that loss could be very detrimental to someone with low sex drive for example. If i go days without fapping I still get extremely horny and pop boners all day long so I don't feel like I am at any risk of getting ED.

After looking at ur pics again I think i overestimated the extent of ur loss, just that one pic with the hair pulled back reveals a lot of miniaturised hairs at the hairline so its natural to assume that area will change significantly if left untreated, otherwise the actual quality of your hair is very good. You have zero crown loss and should you be lucky enough to have avoided that part of the male pattern baldness gene, that is extremely lucky because it means no matter what happens to your frontal section, getting a dense hair transplant is always possible down the line should you ever want to go that route.

You have a 98% chance of not getting low libido from finasteride. The same chances of not impregnating a woman when having sex with a condom. You have even fewer chances to develop permanent ED. I'm just trying to put it out there in perspective.

I think its kind of odd in 20 years since original propecia it has never been reformulated into a topical version. I bet you a hundred bucks if propecia sold better like v**** they would have released a topical version by now to keep patent. Its all about the money, and hair loss doesnt bring enough of it I guess.
Small chance of sides, but your taking those chances for a cosmetic problem. There are other risks that cant be quantified because no one knows.

This is interesting, have you tried it yourself, or heard about anyone having any success maintaining on it? Thanks man
Hasson and Wong have been doing a study with it and they have success. Dr Klein(RIP) used to sell it with minoxidil mixed in and people raved about it. Many doctors are using a topical minoxidil/finasteride and claiming success with it. If you really are afraid of taking finasteride by mouth than try it topically.

Your hair is in quite good condition . I see what you mean about the recession but I don't reckon people at present would know you're receding as its style pretty well when you're not pulling it back to reveal the temples ...

Like they say , propecia is probably the only way. I didn't experience ED funnily enough when I was on it . I was on it for two months and had weird sensations in my nipple area which scared me straight off the stuff . I tapered down from 1mg, to 0.5 then to 0.25 a day but still had the sides . I'm shedding lots of hair and think I may go back on 0.5mg Monday Weds and Friday ...

All sides I had went the day I stopped taking it ...
Hey man, thanks, yeah i heard that nipple sensitivity was a pretty normal side effect, maybe it should have passed after a while longer?
i hope it works out well for you when you give it another go, please send me an update if you go for it! best of luck

Hey again, thats very much a relief to hear, i'm glad its working so well for you! i will speak to my dermatologist and consider it, because the sooner the better right. Yeah, lowered sex drive is not really something i was afriad of, i would be ok with that, its just the online scare about this permanent effects, but it seems those are really rare cases and who knows. I mean millions of people take this drug, so many of the sides are probably due to other reasons. And seemingly most people are fine with it.
Yeah i didnt notice the miniaturized hair follicles on my temples until a while back, that was what initially got me worried it would get me now.
i have had a receeded hairline for around 3 years tho.
