Yes, I know, I know.. Merk are biased, "propeciahelp" members are biased, everyone is full of sh!t and all that.
I find this particulair forum to be pretty solid, in that its not too extreme in neither the Pros nor the Cons so I thought I should ask you guys.

What do we make of things like this?
http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.a ... e=PROPECIA

I mean, thats so bad it almost seems like propeciahelp.com had a party, got drunk, went all hay-wire and spammed the hell out of that site.
The all-caps screaming about the dangers of this "poison" does make one think though; could there be any truth behind it?

I guess I sometimes look for some kind of fairytail-god-figure to sudenly proclaim he has all the answers, but I know thats not going to happen. Even a lot of doctors seem pretty clueless in the subject.
Myself, I´ve been on this stuff for almost 2 months. No sides, except potentially a bit watery seamen. Wich is no real problem in itself, but in the light of these kind of comments still makes one think; does that mean my body is reacting in more negative ways I have not yet seen?

Im seriously OK with a 2%-3% or even 5% chans of some sides, maybe 10% if they are minor. Even more if im assured they go away if I stop taking the pill.
But if we are talking 90%, or even 50% or 40% of vital sides im not sure I want to play the game anymore.

What do you guys think about stuff like this?
I know some of you have been around long enough to have somewhat of a formed opinion on the subject, so please, share.

Hahahahaha!

Mate, I'll tell you what I think..

It's so easy to think, "I hope I don't get sides, I hope I don't get sides", and then BAMM, you've mentally given yourself sides.

I'm going to tell you a short embarrassing story. I got this French girl into bed when I was in Paris. Things were going well and then.. My dick just wouldn't move a muscle! I finally DID jizz that night, but it was pretty embarrassing, and definately one of my WORST EVER performances. I immediately blamed it on Finasteride and I even told her about it! The next day I realised that I was a loser, not because Finasteride made me impotent, but because I remembered that 2 years earlier (before I got on finasteride) the SAME THING happened back home in Australia with another girl (Swiss-Italian and hot as f*ck and I couldn't even get it up, oh God I'm such a loser)! It was definately performance anxiety in both cases, and these days I'm absolutely smashing it with no worries at all! My little fella is knee deep in pussy and he's working harder than ever!

I've tried and tried to blame finasteride for all kinds of things, but I always realise that bad things like this happen, and have happened before I started taking it! To be honest, the only REAL side that I feel comfortable in blaming on finasteride is my watery jizz, and even then I have days where it is as thick as ever! Sorry about the details..

So all I can say is take finasteride, eat healthy, workout, be happy with your direction in life, pursue your hobbies, and just get on with things. If you have no hobbies I'd recommend looking into nootropics, it's interesting..

i think propeciahelp is a good resource for people experiencing sides. and mew is the man, very smart, helpful guy who looks out for people. that said i disagree with their overall message that propecia is evil - just because it messed some people up doesn't mean it won't work very well for others.

likewise, that askapatient thing pissed me off. lots of people calling propecia evil, saying it doesn't work, your hair is going to fall out anyway just shave it etc. there are plenty of people whose hair has been saved by propecia - just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean you should tell everyone else not to try it. idiots.

we're lucky to have finasteride - but you shouldn't take it expecting a miracle.

Talked with a doktor (with a very good rep. here) about this as well.
He told not to worry at all and take propecia in good faith, unless something major would suddenly happen.

He has treated [edit] over 500 people a year with Propecia and Proscar (1/4; 1.25mg), and said problems had been very few and minor in the few cases.

As he is not my doctor yet, and he is well aware that I get finas without use of prescription he had nothing at all to gain from those words either.

I am one of the few I think with a massively increased libido on dutasteride and was very high on finasteride. Libido and semen changes only last for 2-3 months and then stabilise to how you are then going to be long term..in my case high libido.

I was able to control and stay hard for a couple of hours...my regular partner complained that it was impossibe to have a quickie! I always want to take all afternoon :) ...I have not taken v**** but with dutasteride on top of that I would need Anabel Chong....maybe not...slapper :)

So ignore the site and do not be put off with sides scare stories.. make a decision and go with it...its very rare for sides to be really major.

I'm suprised this is still going..

I've read the horror stories, but it doesn't add up! Guys, ONLY 2% of men in the trials experienced sexual side affects. Let's be generous and say that 10% of men experience SOME sides, and that still shouldn't scare people from at least TRYING the drug.

From what I can gather, many of these reported "side effects" from finasteride (panic attacks, brain fog, lack of motivation, etc..) are symptoms of anxiety and depression. Has anyone apart from me had the thought that most of these guys might be:

A) Anxious and depressed about taking finasteride after having read all the negative reviews .!?
B) Anxious and depressed about MALE PATTERN BALDNESS destroying their self esteem .!?

I think it's paranoia (is that how you spell it?) and the whole male pattern baldness process that causes "sides" rather than low DHT, which hasn't really been proven to do anything apart from developing the penis as a fetus and during puberty, causing body hair, and causing male pattern baldness..

As I've said before, take your pill, eat healthy, workout, smash girls (or boys) more and masturbate less, pursue your dreams with the confidence of all that hair, put your mates before dates, call your mum, try to be a good bloke, etc, etc..

I love these war stories about staying hard. There is no way one stays hard for HOURS it's just not physiologically possible. 3-4 hours is called a priapism and that can be dangerous.
It 's all about the machismo in this thread. So much for honesty.

it seems more like 80% of people on these forums experience some form of decreased libido. It sure as hell isn't 2%. Mine is crushed but I'm only 2 weeks in, praying that it stabilizes somehow.

Yes it is, your 80% is a guess at best, and a "forum" is not an accurate sample size

It is 2%, many studies have concluded that, GET OVER IT

Then how come more studies are showing NOW that more and more men are getting serious sides, then the 2% of the study that merck probably did.
