26 Months Finasteride, Hairline Slowly Receding

I'm using finasteride for about 26 months now. During this period my hairline has not recede a lot, but in the past half year / year, there is definitely some movement in the hairline (it's really about receding temples, the rest of my hair is still thick).

What are the next steps I could take?

- Minoxidil? I have little faith in this, but what do you guys think?

- Switching to dutasteride? I read different stories about switching from fina to duta. Some successful, but also some ending up balding way more fast.

- Other options?

you can try dutasteride but at that level of dht suppression, it's not a huge difference from finasteride. stick with finasteride and your recession may stabilize. no crown loss and thick everywhere else is a great sign. people who have ONLY hair line recession but no further loss almost never end up going bald, or even past nw2.5. just look at ewan mcgregor's current hairline.

Ewan McGregor is a strong Norwood 2 at most

Unfortunately I already passed Ewaj Mcgregor's hairline...

So last 6 months I think my temples has definitely receded...
I think I will add to my finasteride some dutasteride (ones or twice a week).

You guys think minoxidil is also worth trying? Because it's quite expensive I think...

Any opinions?

I'm in a long distance relationship and in about 2 months I will see my girlfriend again and we will marry so we can live together in the same country. But atm I'm freaking out about my hair because it has receded the last 6 months and I'm actually afraid that I will bald in 2 months so much that she would be like who the f**k are you
eek.gif

Completely insane probably, because 1; in 8 years actually didn't happen that much, so in 2 months probably also not and 2; it shouldn't actually matter, but still I'm always worried that someday the balding will end our relationship...

But in the last 6 months I'm quite sure my hairline did recede and I want to stop it.
I'm a bit afraid to start duta to be honest, because all the horror stories I read about it destroying the hairline, so maybe I should wait with that till after the wedding, because like I said, I want to have a decent amount of hair at my wedding...

But also I don't want my hairline to recede any more, so maybe I should do something else then just fina...
Maybe minoxidil would be more safe to start using without the possibility of destroying the hairline? Or is the minoxidil shed really bad? I would really like to try RU, but unfortunately it's pretty expensive and you have to use it with liquid minoxidil, which I don't really like...

Or maybe I should just keep using only fina till after the wedding and hope my hairline won't be destroyed by then...

What do you guys think? Pff stressing allot:(

Shave your head completely and scare your girlfriend to death:)...I'm joking.
The temples are the hardest region to restore, either with fina/duta or minoxidil.
But i would suggest you to give minoxidil a try since you haven't done it already.
And don't worry about the price.Your problem is too small that a single month's
bottle will suffice for three months for you if you apply it only to the temples.

I know the feeling

You should see if your girlfriend notices your hair. Mine was always critical of me, I have to be "perfect"

Don't screw yourself up until after the wedding

Thanks guys! I don't know why but I'm really freaking out at the moment...
Well actually I do know, it's because I know I found the perfect girl for me and I don't want my hair to f*** everything up in the next two months before the wedding:(

The receding hairline hasn't lost much ground the last 8 years, but I'm quite sure it did a bit the last year...

Also I notice like when I pull my hair or run my hand through my hair I have some hairs in my hand and allot of itching lately..
Also I know I probably always had this and probably it's quite normal, but like the last 8 years sometimes I have this insane panic attacks about my hair, and this is one of them. Normally I forget about it after a while for maybe a year or so, so hopefully now as well. Although I think this stressing will take till after I survived the wedding:confused:

I should really just order minoxidil for the peace of mind and stop looking at hairloss forums. Because although these forum are really helpful, they make me feel like sh*t;)
