Hi everyone, here is my story so far..

I've always had thick, wavy hair that seems to grow real quick. Everyone has given me compliments about how healthy it looked..

In August 2014 I noticed that my hair (mainly my crown) was not as thick as usual. I noticed this because the product I use to style wasn't holding it up as it usually did.. if anything it was weighing it down. I noticed in the mirror that my crown area looked quite thin so I immediately got myself some regaine foam and used 2x a day with good results (crown thickened up completely by december). Stupidly, I stopped using it as I went to Uni and didn't really think much of it until September 2015. This is where it went downhill. I noticed my hair was thinning all over my scalp, not just my crown. I compared my temples to photos from 5 years ago and I have zero receding.. but there is definitely a loss of thickness and it is happening very fast!

I can no longer hold my quiff up with just a small amount of product.. I now have to use extra strong hairspray and sometimes that doesn't work!

As of 2 weeks ago I have started on Regain foam again (1x daily, trying to apply it all over scalp is hard with long hair) and 0.5 propecia 1x daily.

My question is - do you think it's possible I could get back the thickness I once had? I heard diffuse thinners responded well to finasteride?

Also, I have been on propecia for almost 2 weeks and experienced ZERO side effects.. is this normal? Should I up the dose from 0.5 to 1mg or just assume its working?

Many thanks for any help! I have attached a few pics of my hair right now..

I have the same type of loss as you. Been on finasteride for a bit over 2 months. So far I have gottem worse, but hoping this is just the "shed".

Yes its normal you arent having sides. Contrary to all the **** you read on the internet, they aren't common

So just an update.. been on finasteride since mid March. Upped dosage from 0.5 to 1mg mid April.

The main thing I've noticed is I am not losing nearly as much hair as I used to. Seriously, 2 months ago I would put product in my hair and my hand would be covered with hairs. I also can't feel my scalp as easily as before, for example in my original pictures I would touch the thinning part of my crown and be able to feel heat/cold from my hand straight away. Now, I feel as though I have to push hairs aside to get to my scalp.

I've stopped the Regain as it was making me feel extremely nauseous in the morning, however I have experienced zero sides with finasteride. If anything, I have a slightly increased libido and my semen isn't as thick as before.

I think the finasteride is definitely working for me so I will be staying on it with the hope that I can restore my hair back to the quality it was 2 years ago!
