28 Days On Finasteride 0.25 A Day Experiencing Sides Any Advice

Hi guys been taking finasteride 0.25 mg (proscar not generic dissolved in alcohol) for 28 days and started experiencing bad sexual sides so been tampering off to reduce sides (every other day) for 1 week and intend to continue to tamper off until either the sides have reduced to a tolerable degree or until I have quit the drug completely over a period of time I deem safe to reduce the likely hood of a crash or post finasteride syndrome.

In your opinion is this the best course of action? Advise greatly appreciated.

Also have any other members tampered off completely or to a dosage where you were able to tolerate the sides better and if so at what dosage or period of time did things sides start to improve and if you ever fully recovered and if so how long did it take?

Every time I took finasteride I got sides, no matter what the dosage was or how infrequent. That being said, my scalp responded to it magnificently to it so I wish I could take it. That stuff works, but I always felt like a borderline Eunuch on it. However, everytime I did quit, my body started to return back to normal around 1 month after discontinuance. Wow, it's so fascinating how every person's physiology is so drastically different.

I would literally take up to 5mg finasteride every day and my sides were DRASTIC increase in libido, and DRASTIC hair loss. To the point where I would have erections all through the night for no reason.

You are going about this the right way. You can either maintain your regimen and see if the sides vanish, which they do a lot of the time as your body works to reestablish equilibrium, or you can try reducing to an even smaller dosage.

If it was me, I would stay on course for another month and see if the sides go away. They very well may.

Low libido and loss of morning wood which kicked in around the second weak. This was tolerable the 3rd and 4th weak as I could still jack off and watching p**rn or what ever enjoyably but just did it less as I had lower sexual desire. Then around start of 5th week sexual desire reduced more and
it started to get progressively more difficult to maintain erection and they were really weak and retarded and orgasms where no longer pleasurable and than at end of 4th week I had worst wank of my life after a weak retarded erection when I ejaculated their was no pleasure and it felt painful and weird in I think my prostate or something.

Also forgot to mention earlier I felt pain briefly some days in my left nipple during first 10 days I think but this symptom has not occurred since.

I got sides from finasteride, first from 1mg ed and now from 0.5 mg ed. Decreasing the dose by half didn't help and judging by your experience, cutting down further to 0.25 wouldn't change much either.

Sooner rather than later I will have to stop taking finasteride because the sexual sides are too pronounced. As the previous poster said, it makes you feel like a half eunuch and that is no way to be feeling.

hahaha... I am not laughing at you, but the way you worded this statement is hilarious.

I have heard several accounts of these side effects resolving in people. Your body needs to get used to the drug. Don't get me wrong, I hate finasteride with all my soul. I am simply saying that things MAY get better if you choose to remain on it.

If you're paranoid (which you have every right to be) you might consider lowering the dose even more and seeing how you respond, or consider RU.

If you are getting sides right off the bat that is telling you that your body is not agreeing with the medication.

Inhibiting DHT is not a good idea. DHT is poison for your hair if you have the balding gene but it also regulates libido, and even your mood.

Usually not a good sign if you get sides that quickly.

Update tampered down to 0.1mg every 4 days.(Took first dose at 0.1mg every 4 days will take second dose tomorrow) Feeling better getting morning wood 1 day out of every 4. erections stronger and can reach orgasm but orgasms still not what they where.
Feeling better think I dodged a bullet here but not out of the woods yet.

Just to be clear: are you on 1/4 of a Proscar tablet? Or 0.25mg? I am pretty sure you mean the former, which is 1.25mg, no? If so, I think you may have confused some.

I'm dissolving 1/8 of a proscar tablet in alcohol 95% and taking the equivalent of 0.1mg.

Has your hair gotten any better?

It shed much less so I think it slowed my hair loss which was the goal but cosmetically no. But didn't realistically expect temple regrowth.
