28 Months on Propecia ~ $1800
27 Months on minoxidil ~ $1000
- About a year on the Rogaine Foam - easier to use
18 Months with Nizoral (about) ~ $250
Things improved dramatically after about a year on Propecia & minoxidil. (dont have any decent before pics for comparison) I went through a load of shedding, but it all grew back thicker and fuller than before I started. Remember, shedding = good thing
I cut my hair back to a couple inches over the summer. About a month ago a noticed a little bit of thinning on the crown, so i toss some foam on there too - more as preventative maintenance at this point.
My hairline is chilling out at NW2. I still lose the occasional hair on the front point of my hairline. Prob 20-25 of them over 2 years. Can't win em all.. Considering I'd be close to NW4 without any of the current meds, I can live with losing a couple hairs from time to time.
Maybe in 5-10 years i'll get a hair transplant if things start to slide. Getting some graphs up front is tempting from time to time. Then I remember they cut a chunk out of the back of your head, only a few docs out there really know what they are doing, and it's not exactly free...
Here's some pics.

My only advice:
1) stick it out - things will improve.
2) if you start shedding like crazy, you will see crazy regrowth in 3-6 months.
3) think of where you would be without the meds whenever you think 'i wish i had a perfect nw1'
4) it's not half as bad as you think - chill out and have a drink.
