3 months in, finally realized my hair is worse

I dunno what it was, but today I looked at my hair in the mirror, and noticed my disgustingly low hair density. It's maybe 25-50% of the SIDES of my head, on top. It's just so diffuse, it makes me sad. I really don't think it was this bad 3 months ago before Propecia :( I really hope things start looking up... my hairline's even improving, what the funk is with the rest of my head? So depressing, lemme tell you...

i'm in the same position. 3 months ago i started finasteride, I was able to gel my hair, and I had it pretty long too. Now my hair quality is half of what it was, I don't gel my hair because it shows too much scalp, and I've now buzzed my hair.

You are so impatient. Hairloss treatments take time. I am sure things are about to improve for you. When I first started minoxidil, the hair worsened substantially before it got better. It really started getting better after the 2-3 month mark, which is where you are at the moment.

Same horror story here at 6 months on finasteride. I also went off minoxidil at the time I started finasteride, so I don't know what end is up. I just know my hair has fallen out en masse.

For a lot of people the first 6 months will make your hair worst because of the shedding your going through. But after that your hair should grow back and thicker than when you start. It's hard I know but if you keep your hair short than you will not know much. Try not to look at it.

Thing is, I don't really notice my hair shedding. But my hair is getting intensely long at the moment, and it's sooooo thin. I got it wet and put a hat on, and when I took the hat off, oh god the horror. It was a joke. It wouldn't have looked this bad when it was as short as it was pre-finasteride.

I figured since I can no longer grow facial hair and sh*t like that that my DHT levels are way down, and I'm gonna see some results, but it's been all opposite. I didn't expect phenomenal results @ month 3, but I also didn't expect my hair to disappear. I just really hope things start looking up, cuz I haven't been this depressed about being me in a looooong time.

Told you man :(

This site is all about dreams.

Sure some will see their hair semisaved by finasteride but once a follicle is dead - it´s dead! dead things don´t spring back to life it´s as simple as that. I´m sure you had great hair a year ago but let me tell you I had AMAZING hair just 4 months before I noticed my hairloss. I thought I was a prime no not jst prime superprime candidate for these regimes.

Stemcells until then get a life.

.I hadn't checked my temples in a long while, but I checked them just last night and wow, I'm impressed. Coming up quickly on 3 full months of propecia, I can now easily, without any reservation, say that I'm experiencing fairly significant temple regrowth. Lots of thick black hairs growing all along the temples (tapers off into peach fuzz as you move closer to the tip of the hairline though). Just really encouraging, especially considering the finasteride only regimen. ..

You just posted this less than a week ago. You flip flop so much on what you say that it is dangerouse for anyone to pay attention to you. You are to reckless in your evaluation to be taken seriously.

I also noted in this thread that my temples ARE still experiencing regrowth, which is another reason I'm baffled by the backwards direction taken by the rest of my head. I'd also like to note that it still appears that my crown is in better shape, and the swirly parts are more defined. The rest of my head appears worse off, however...

hey deaner man, youre only on 3 months, sit back... youve got a long way to go.

at 3 months, my hair looked like sh*t, it was so much worse off from the baseline mark that i felt like crying!!

at 5 months or so my hair was much thicker than at 3 months, so im sure it was a shed, which regrew.

unfortunately now at 9 months im in a ditch again. im hoping itll regrow.

hang in there many, you gotta be prepared for the sheds and regrowths, thats how finasteride works, especially in the 1st year. good luck man, hope this helps.

Deaner,
Youngguy_uk is right. 3 months really isn't anything. Since you believe your hair is at its shittiest point right now, take some god damn pictures right f*****g now when you read my message. This is the only way you will really be able to evaluate your progress. Regrowth is such a slow process that 9 months 6 months down the road when your hair is actually better, you may think it has gotten worse, unless you have pictures to evaluate. Hard to belive, but even guys like BadHairDecade, who had awesome results have said that they didn't even realize they had such an improvement until they looked at their pics.

No excuses Deaner, just take the pics. If you don't have a digital camera, then take it with a regular camera. It doesn't matter, just do it. DO IT AY!

Well I understand that but you are indeed posting way way too many evaluations of your progress. You must be driving yourself frantic with trying to figure out whats happening on top.

If your are finding yourself a bit depressed with the situation I highly recommend going on St Johns Wort. 900 MG a day. 300 MG 3 times day will do the trick. It is a very gentle depression medication, very side effect free. The number one side is light sentisitivity. This is a highly used medication that is very well thought of and used all over the world except America. Trust me I am on it and it is a fantastic remedy. Look it up, there is a lot of science behind it.

Believe me Deaner, I may sound like an *** but I am truely trying to help you.

starting month 3 on Propecia

I am starting my third month on finasteride, and am noticing the same things as you. I am not shedding many hairs, however, there seems to be so much thinning. My hair density appears to have fallen dramatically over the last two months. I can never accurately gauge my hair's condition though. Positively speaking, I have read that hair loss medications take time. Sort of like the stock market, you can't invest for short term gains. You will have to experience the up and downs but eventually you will experience positive gains. I hope!

dude, extremekicks, go back to your gangster friends, nobody cares. Go ahead and rip into me or whatever you'll try to do, but you won't spell anything right.

Edit: Thanks alot for the real responses guys, sorry for seeming overanalytical about my situation. I'm definitely driving myself crazy, I know that much, and you don't sound like an *** cassin, thanks for trying to help. It just sucks when you're 18, you feel like you're missing out on so much when you're dealing with crap like this. Really depressing when school's about to start and you look like sh*t.
