and my hair seems slightly worst (also its longer than usual so could be why my diffuseness looks worst), my sex drive is through the roof and i got 2 pimples on my hairline in the past 2 weeks (something i never experience while on finasteride). Can anyone relate to this while still reaping the benefits of thickening later on in their regimen?

Im kind of worried propecia is doing the opposite of what its supposed to be doing, but i doubt ill be stopping because there's no chance im gonna get on dutasteride. Upping my dose from 4x a week to 5x a week just to see if it will make a difference.

I like to have my weekends to myself and not worry about taking propecia, i also like to go out and grab drinks on the weekend and i dont really feel comfortable when a full dose of propecia is in me and i wanna get shitfaced.

I was on finasteride from about June-nov but I was a bit fatter than I am now and I did have some sexual sides along with a bit of fatigue but I had a blood test and it showed my estrogen was slightly above normal range.

I was off finasteride from mid nov to March to get in shape and try to beat the sides. Now I'm back on finasteride and I literally have no sides in also taking more than I ever did I just hope it's doing something for my hair, I wasn't really worried until I got some pimples on my hairline, I always used to get them when I wasn't on finasteride and never have when I took finasteride previously.

I think I'm like 10 days away from 3 months just hoping my hair thickens up, not even asking for regrow th I'm good with what j have its just the density.

Noticing that you have so far only been taking finasteride 4x a week (now 5x). May I ask what your dosage is? This may not apply to you, but I notice that the people who most often fret about not seeing the results they hoped for are also the same people who say, "I only take finasteride 3-4 times a week at a dosage of .25 mg." I understand people are sometimes weary of side effects, but if you don't go with 1mg or 1.25mg taken every single day, I don't feel like folks should be too surprised when they don't receive the results they like. It could also be that you just don't take hold to finasteride very well, but I think you should give the former a try. Might help.

I won't lie that used to be me but after my finasteride break i was left no choice but to take 1mg seeing the state of my hair. I take 1 mg 4x a week right now gonna ramp it up to 5 I guess

The weird thing is last time with .5 mg 4-5x a week I def noticed improvement at least some minor thickening but the side effects got annoying.

I don't think a switch just turned off in me and made finasteride not work. I just hope it's cause I'm healthier now and not noticing sides. I can't say my hairs gotten worse. I know without finasteride there would be a visual difference at this point at the rate I was going. I just want a touch of thickening that's all I'm hoping for.

Do you really think that 2 day interval could be screwing me over? I mean some people take 1mg eod and do fine I'm at 5 a week and still shedding

1 thing I actually completely forgot is that I was using topical finasteride too and stopped it about a month ago cause it was a mess for what I felt like was no gaining benefit.

Maybe that could have caused a shed and I'm feeling the effects now?

You'll experience a shed going back on finasteride, you could just be experiencing the initial shed.

If you quit finasteride before for a prolonged period then started retaking it, you can't expect to not have the initial shed which makes it appear worse before it gets better. Don't know anything about topical finasteride but I'd just recommend using minoxidil foam preferably.

Just stick with it, the initial shed is generally the hardest part to overcome, you'll normally start to see results around 6-7 months, but it may not be that noticeable until the 1 year mark. Just remember if you don't see any regrowth its because finasteride is more known for maintaining current hair.

Taking it 5x a week is probably not very different than 7x a week for most people, but I personally would not take it any less than every day. But I'm probably just weird. 5x a week at 1mg should be fine; I agree with Derpicus, just give it more time. It's bound to show better results, especially if you don't think it's gotten worse necessarily. Cheers.

balance it up with good vitamins & minerals, your pushing a higher amount that the body was not intended to handle so balance it up

I wasn't aware that you've used topical Finasteride before. The only way that method of use will work is if it's absorbed systemically, so might as well just continue taking it orally in the simple form of a pill. To be honest, I think the reason why the state of your hair seems to keep fluctuating so much is because you play around with different doses so often. But as always, do what feels most comfortable. :p

This. I know ther's a train of thought that you can take finasteride only 3 or 4 times a week and it will still work and I understand why people would do this (cost, less chance of sides ect) but the official recommended dosage is 1mg every day. Personally if I'm going on something like finasteride I want to give it the best possible chance to work and unless I start to get bad sides I'm sticking with 1mg a day.

I did get sides last time around but they went away completely after a I took a break i was also taking half the amount I take now.

So I lost some weight and have been following a healthier diet. But I told myself I need to find a medium between a good sex life and solid state of hair. So I'm at about a solid 3 months now and I can't complain with my hair lately it looks ok and it seems at the least stable. Sides are non existent right now and honestly I've never felt this good on finasteride,

The things is I know if I take finasteride 7/7 I'll get sides. I think 5 days of dosing 1mg can hold me off for 2 days. It might be a psychological thing but I like not thinking about finasteride at all on my weekends.
