Hi people,

I'm on the 3rd month of propecia.. And still have problems with the hair loss. Why doesn't it work? I take 0,5 mg per day.

Its usually good to give a treatment at least a year, maybe even a year and a half before deciding if its right/working for you. Give it some time, take pictures, and be patient. You didn't go bald over night and you probably won't grow all your hair back over night either. Hang in there!

I don't have any problems about re-growth . I had hair loss and started taking propecia 0,5 mg treatment. And it didn't stop my hair loss. I have been taking it for 3 months.

It is quite early to judge the results. In some people propecia has definite results at 6 month-1 year.

I'd say 3 months is too soon to judge, everyone who's anyone knows to give it at least a year before assessing its efficacy.
Patience is key when trying to tackle a problem like this; pop the pill, keep up with treatment and try to enjoy the show.
Good luck with everything. Cheers.

Propecia takes time dude. I've been on it for two years now and I remember the first few months it didn't look too great. Give it at least six months then speak to a doctor if you think it isn't working.

Hi guys, I've given it almost 6 months and have pretty much decided to give up on it. I've been weaning off it the last few weeks. Hair loss has increased rapidly since starting the drug to the point where if I run my hand through wet hair at the back/side of my head after a shower I get large clumps. Hair is now very very thin in these areas where there was definitely no noticeable hairloss prior to getting on finasteride.

I cannot see how "hanging in there" will see improvement at this stage so I think it's time to accept my fate. If I had my time over again I wouldn't get on finasteride as I think it could only have accelerated things in my case. On the other I guess maybe it was worth a shot!

Thoughts anyone ?

You need to realize if in one year you look the same as now then that is success. Regrowing hair is rare and not to be expected. You just keep the hair you have right now

Thanks for your input abcdefg. I understand what you're saying and would bite your hand off for baseline level of where I was at when I started finasteride. Fact of the matter is I'm way below after almost 6 months with no signs I improvement, quite the opposite if anything. When I say improvement I don't mean regrowth either but a noticeable decrease in the volume of shedded hair. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that finasteride doesn't work for me.
