5% spironolactone cream vs lotion

Is it ok to use 5% spironolactone cream on the hairline like the one sold on genhair.com instead of the %5 lotion like dr.lee's? found on the monoxidil.com site. any drawbacks?

My guess is that they are BOTH creams. A 5% spironolactone liquid would stink BADLY.
