He said: My dad is NW5 and my brother two years older is NW4. I started losing hair at 24, hairline moving back so fast you could almost see it."
Some people get initial recession and then it stops there for at least a decade or 2

Thanks for the reference from the old forums Jaka. My family history going back 2 generations has no full heads of hair, on males. I started finasteride 1mg about seven years ago and lost nothing since.

Endmymisery always possible but I doubt it. I had temple recession since my early 20's, you can still see it in my old photos and even now, since I didn't get any hair back. If I don't have male pattern baldness, I'm one of the only guys on the planet to rock a receded hairline that hasn't moved for almost a decade

Maybe Ur not really balding and haven't lost any hair because you weren't going to anyways..
That's what i think everytime somebody says they have had success with finasteride. I'm like well maybe you weren't really going to lose more that anyway so how the f*** are supposed to know if the drug is working?.. Only way i say it is working is if you had a little regrowth.

Hey y'all. I noticed the first side effect after all these years. It's been at least 7 years, maybe closing on 8, that I've been taking finasteride for hairloss.

No pictures this time sorry, it hasn't been a year since last update, and I promise it looks exactly the same as usual. My temple recession has been stable since the day I started finasteride.

Anyways, the side effect is somewhat noticable loss of androgenic body hair. I hadn't grown my beard out in nearly a decade, but have been in the last few months.

My beard is noticeably thinner than when I grew it out as a kid. Even in pictures its clear. About half the hair refuses to grow longer than 1/8 inch. It still looks okay but it's not the super thick Paul Bunyan beard I once had. I also noticed my chest mane is a bit more reasonable in recent years (thank God).

It could just be aging. I've been on finasteride for close to 1/3 of my life so it's hard to determine if something is from getting old or the drugs :) . It's well known that finasteride reduces body hair in women, but also well known that body hair thins out with age. Who knows, just reporting what I noticed.

Either way it doesn't bother me one bit and I'll probably be on finasteride till my days in the sun are up. Something to be aware of though, nearly everything has a tradeoff
