I guess this board is so negative re dutasteride because all the people who have had and are having success do not bother logging on anymore...
Personally speaking I had fairly neutral results with Dutasteride.
After being on Proscar and Estrogen for a couple of years and getting quite satisfying results I was curious to see what Avodart could do for me. I tried Avodart it for a period of about 12 - 18 months, but I could see no benefit to using it over Proscar, though I did seem to see quite a lot of new vellus growth if I recall correctly they never really became terminal.
I have now switched back to Proscar (finasteride) and while it's hard to be say with absolute certainty, I think the regrowth is better with the Finasteride and much of the vellus has now become terminal.
Not exactly scientific I'm afraid, but I hope it helps
