6 Months Propecia - No Affect At All

Hello

I've been on propecia for just over 6 months now.

My hair doesn't seem to be improving, the distance in between the follicles are growing and my sides are slowly eroding away. A combover is looking likely in a few months. I've had no particular shedding, just a gradual disappearace of my once lovely thick hair which started its not-so great escape a couple of years ago.

On the plus side I've had no sexual sides.

It's painful to know I still have a bit of hair left but then is nothing I can do about it whilst it's here, and this investment in propecia seems like a waste of money so far. Shall I just save for a transplant or toupee?

If the sides are thinning then there's a good chance this isn't solely male pattern baldness. It sounds like you're suffering from thyroid deficiency, anemia, stress, or an abundance of other things that can cause telogen effluvium. This can happen at the same time as male pattern baldness and deceive you into thinking finasteride isn't doing anything. Post some pictures so we can see what's going on.

if Fina is making nothing, probably you don't have high DHT levels.

The most common scenario is that you can have high Oestrone levels,
and you need Oestrone blocker and
Pgd2 blockers.

So the best is to make a DHT and Oestrone measurement, so you can see which one is really in high levels.

Also if you have Oily Hair you are quite secure that your Oestrone is high, and she causes your Hairloss.

Idk what the other posters are talking about. I had the same experience. Been on propecia 2 years and my hair has gone to sh*t since. I doubt it is making things worse, but feel like it isnt really doing much. I would stick it out for atleast 1.5 years though.

You can take grape seed oil ( now foods),
two table spoons pro week.
That will help a lot.

Propecia is one the cheapest most effective options otherwise no one would bother with it. Take pictures, and come back in 6 months or a year with some new pictures to see how it went. Not much else to say its stupid to drop it unless you enjoy losing hair. A hair transplant will cost you many many times more then a year of propecia. Keeping as much as possible is the main goal

How is it now?

Tbh I don't really know, it's definitely better than it was around the time I made that post, so I obviously went through a pretty bad shed early on. However I'm almost certain I'm no better off now than I was to my baseline in terms of thickness/density, but the shedding seems to have stopped/dramatically decreased from earlier on and prior to treatment, so if I'm just maintaining what I currently have then I'm more than happy with that.

My advice to anyone doubting if finasteride is working for them after a few months would be to stick it regardless of how your hair looks, wait at least a year before evaluating.
