I have been using Finasteride 1mg since about 20 years old. It maintained quite well, although I got off it at around age 27 for several years (big mistake). At first there was no problem, but then after 3-4 years, one day suddenly it was like a nuke went off... itching... shedding... recession... minitiaruzation. It was incredibly sudden.
I got back on finasteride ASAP and recovered somewhat (never quite back to as it was before). However about 7 months ago I decided to try adding Duta to see if I could stop further recession or regain something at the hairline.
My hairline has quickly gotten very thin, quite a bit of shedding, very wispy and lacking colour. Oddly enough it doesn't itch though.
Should I continue riding this out and hope it stabilizes or best to cut my losses and go back to finasteride only? Or maybe 1x week / dutasteride?

I don't use minoxidil, use Nizoral 2% 3-4 times a week.
I'll try to upload some pics shortly.

dutasteride reduced shedding and stopped ANY itch I had. But after 1.5 years on it my hair was much thinner. Its a gamble my friend. Been off dutasteride for a year and my hair is doing ALOT better. Är du svensk eller? Jag är 36.

Were you taking it daily or just a few times a week? Are you taking anything now like Finasteride?

Det är möjligt att jag har svenskt blod. Jag pratar tyska :) jag kanske borde lära mig svenska. har du blont hår?

Take a look at the paper https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22686691/

It took him just 3 months to regrow hair on dutasteride, but it's probably because he had been taking finasteride continuously before that.

I took it daily the first 7 months with topicall duta also once a week. Hair was thinner so started taking 2mg duta x3 weekly. Then later 2.5mg x3 weekly. Hair much thinner and then stayed on 0.5mg everyday until I quit it for good. My semen only produced 1 drop and ofc hair wayy thinner.

Hi i would get on the miinox and finasteride ive been on it for 32 years now this is the best treatment dont get the finasteride in the minoxidil solution its not as good ,ibe been under Hugh Rushton of Harley st and still have a great head of hair obvs not as good in my 20’s but thick enough with a small spray of concealer on it.
i take certrizine a coupe of tabs a day its well known for hair protection as its an antihistamine ,If ur not going on minoxidil mix certrizine in distilled water and when dissolved apply to the scalp it will help protect the follicles .i use Tony Maleedy juniper scalp therapy shampoo it’s amazing stuff and helps the process.i do laser cap every other day also and demal roller once a week to aid the blood flow along with a daily hair vitamin tablet.
If you want to go the extra step to get blood flow lay on the bed with ur head hanging over a couple of times a week ,gud luck with all
