7months on minoxidil, 5months on finasteride (pics)

Hello guys!

My nephew visited me yeterday showing me his new camera. He also made some photos of me. I am sending them now and I would like you guys to tell me what do you think about my situation.

I have also added one picture from January 2003 before treatment. I know it is in very bad quality but I think that my terrible male pattern baldness pattern is noticable there. Especially the left temple (from my viev left). Unfortunately I have got no other picture showing my situation before treatment.


Second picture is from beginning of August. This is after two month on minoxidil. Not yet on finasteride. I think that there is noticable change since January 03. The temples area is more covered by hair.

I know that the contemporary pictures do not show much in detail but I thing that the improvement on the left temple is noticable there.

I will ask my nephew to come again and take some detail pictures of my situation soon. I will send them.

Have people noticed your regrowth?

I also noticed in your before pics that you used to have that "behind the hairline thinning stripe" across your head, if you know what I mean? I had it too, but its filling in more and more.

it looks good, but that isn't all new regrowth. he just let his hair grow longer. It was shaved almost to the skin before.

O.K. I will do that but I am not sure if I can remember every detail of my story now. For more details of my treatment story you can check my posts.

At age 19 I started to notice changes of my hair quality. At age 20 I have realised I am going to be bald. I asked in drug store and they told me that there was no cure for male pattern baldness.

I was stressed about it. But more about future as I cut my hair short and it still looked good. However at age 23 I decided to shave my head instead looking bald (balding places on temples and crown started to be very noticable at age 23, actually I am difusse thinner but on these areas is the thinning worster).

Twice or three times I left my hair grow to see what the situation is and everytime it was unaccetable. At age 25 the pattern started to be noticable even on my shaved hair.

I gave up the fight till spring 2003 when I heard abouth the good results with minoxidil, finasteride, nizoral combo. In June 2003 at age 26 I started to use minox5% and nizoral as well.

As I rermember I have seen some changes quite early, lets say after month or two there has been seen something what I would call: The existing vellous hair is waking up for life. Not much change in quality but they started to grow faster.

In August 2003 I added finasteride 1,25mg a day to my regimen. During next months the situation had been slightly improving. The longer growth of vellus hair caused some cosmetic effect as the vellus hait started to be more pigmented and thicker too.

Let say that since November 2003 I have been noticing comments of my friends on my good looking hair. And on 24.12.2003 I realised that in the beginning of treatment I have not expected I would be such responder to big 3.

However I still have to take a long jurney to be more satisfied with my hair. At the moment I am experiencing huge shedding but also new hair which seems to healthier. I ahve got better results on hairline, temples and midscalp than on my crown.

O.K. we will see as the patience is the key

Yeah, you are right that I left my hair grow longer just because I CAN DO IT NOW without looking as bald man. Off course there had been some hair on my head before treatment, on the wheel in front (it is noticable on the January 03 pic), on sides and in the back. But on temples, midscalp and crown there was slick sheeny skin and almost no life.

The truth is that all these pictures do not show much so I will try to investigate and find better ones.

A lot of them just wonder why do I let them grow now after four years of being shaved and just say my hair is not that bad when I joke about my baldness. Those people that knew my before situation commented improvement.

I know exactly what you mean by the thinningstripe, I have regrown a lot of hair in the middle of it, less on the sides of of it (temples).

That is becase you have not seen my crown bald spot, by the way, I expected better results on crown than in front and temples and it is comletely different.

I´ve also got better results in the front than my crown so far, but I think that I started to bald in the crown before the front. It seems like the areas you started to thin last will fill in first, atleast thats my experience.
