I am 8 months in on finasteride and I have noticed a significant increase in shedding. It went from about 20-30 hairs to nearly 150-200 a day(no exaggeration). Anytime I even run my hand through my hair 10-15 pieces will fall out. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I stick with this medicine or get off of it as soon as possible. Im not sure if what im experiencing is a medical problem or just male pattern baldness at its worse. On a a positive side I have noticed a regrowth in the temple region where I have been using Rogaine, but thats the only positive so far.

I'm on the same boat. I've been using finasteride exclusively and the shedding is the same as yours, probably worse than yours. although mine happened right away and in just under two months it has shed more than half of my hair. When I run my hand through my hair i get 10-20 hair without even grabbing anything. So far there has been no sign of it slowing down.. sad to say.
Ya its been a slow process with finasteride. Ill be giving it a full year that moving to a different regiment. I have also had some minor side effects to finasteride including decreased sex drive and developed muscle tissue in my chest. Have any of you tried topical finasteride(spironolactone)? I believe that is going to be my next course of action after I hit the year mark.
