nice site revamp.. I think.

9 years on finasteride now. I think it's maintained my hair pretty well - fingers crossed (don't want to jinx it) o_O

Best thing to do is just pop the pill every day and forget about it - get on with your life and stop worrying about side effects, since it can become a self-fulfilling propechy

unfortunately I've had to get a new GP and she is clueless about male pattern baldness so I may have a battle on my hands getting the b*tch to prescribe me the generic. Why can't GPs be more educated about these things?

9 years? Good god, your face must be wasted.

I asked on the first page; do you ever go through random sheds?

so no problem with concieving then?
Probably not. But it affects a subset of men to a greater extent, if you are one of those guys whose spermatogenesis is very sensitive to DHT then you can have problems concieving. The majority of men on finasteride do not have problems with spermatogenesis.

what about potential foetal damage to the baby, or is that just an urban myth?

Although there is no human study proving paternal finasteride usage causing harm to the offspring, there are studies on rats that clearly show impaired spermatogenesis in male offsprings of finasteride-treated male rats. This is probably a species-specific effect and do not apply to humans. As a finasteride user 21 year old guy, i will stop finasteride before conceiving just to be safe. Merck and most of the doctors do think this way though.

no Idea, I don't count shed hairs. Shedding hairs is normal for everybody. I don't go through any unusually noticable sheds as far as I know, but like I said I don't think about it most of the time

Hey QC, nice to see a fellow poster from back in the day I came here. I can't believe I have lasted this long here. What Norwood did you start at when you began treatment and where are you today? I don't remember your case.

Hi Doctor, good to see you too. I left this place becuase it was too depressing and full of nutters, but good to see you're surviving ;)

I think finasteride has mantained me at Norwood 2-3

Can't complain

Yes, I am trying to ween myself off here but I still like seeing posters like you report back. Only wish s.a.f. and Cassin would report back. Glad to hear you still staying at a low Norwood.
