I can definitely relate to the money thing. It's the only thing holding me back from another procedure which will be my last one.

I agree,

this is a good post, you never know what our future holds.

You guys are absolutely correct that none of us can precisely know our futures. And very glad to hear Teacher that you did not get to the advanced levels of male pattern baldness and truly hope you never do.

Still, the percentages much favor genetic disposition when it comes to the progression of male pattern baldness from what I have observed. Most guys, not all, but most who have extensive male pattern baldness in their family histories end up in the same classes. Now that's not an implication that they will hit Norwwod 7 by thirty years old but they may be there by the time they reach their fifties and sixties. I would consider you an exception to the rule. In addition men who have extensive male pattern baldness on "both sides" of family history almost always end up with extensive male pattern baldness as well.

Also here's the other variable. Let's say the men on the maternal side of one's family has extensive classes of male pattern baldness. BUT, let's also say the paternal side has no apparent occurance of male pattern baldness at all. If one of the off-spring males sustains male pattern baldness in his late teens but his brothers do not, then it would be logical to conclude that he is more genetically disposed to the maternal side, his brothers to the paternal side. But does that imply he will end up a Norwood 7 like his maternal uncles? Only time will tell and it would be wise for that individual to wait until later in life just like Teacher did to see where one's male pattern baldness is headed.

So again I commend you for your wisdom and now your nice results.

I'm in the same position, I'm almost 21 and have diffusion all across the top of my head. It really isa paradox for ppl our age losing:
Propecia fucks with our hormones and may not work, but we're too young for hair transplants.
Girls do NOT want to be with a bald guy and theres no way around it: WE'RE SCREWED.
So, do we shave our heads, buy a few hats and wait a couple of years to get an hair transplant. Ireally have no idea what to do, my friend who's 20 just got 4000 grafts and it looks great, but what will happen to him in 5 yrs?

It's a rough road. I started receding at 17 or 18 years of age, now at 29 I'm a norwood 3. I use propecia and minoxidil to stabilize things, but without them I believe i would be a norwood 5 by now. I'll never accept my hairloss, and sometimes I feel that I wouldn't hesitate even risking my health in order to have hair.

Trust me I know how you feel, but the posters here are correct. An hair transplant now will not solve the problem.

don't get hair transplant at 19

did not read everything here, but I just want to say, listen to the eagle. Don't get hair transplant at 19.

it will take 6 months for your new hair to grow out after going into shock, and it will only be 30 fu/cm2, which is pretty thin. it takes a year for them to reach full maturity. so two procedures and in 1.5 years they look reasonably thick. by that time what if you lost another inch or two of your hair? you'll look like a freak. i'm pretty skeptical about 3000 spec scars not being noticeable. they have to cut holes 1 mm accross to get the fu's balbs out, and the scar tissue then fills in the hole, and that is if you get a good Doctor.

if propecia gave you side effects, go to alternative treatments and read my direction on how to make topical finasteride mixed with 5% minoxidil. you will get much less systemic finasteride and your follicles will get much more. get on minoxidil, and maybe do some copper peptides. I'm still a little skeptical about them, but I'm coming around. if you can't tolerate minoxidil, get the ppg free minoxidil at http://www.mixidil.com. it costs $18 for one month instead of for 3 months, but you need minoxidil. if it is possible for you to regrow any hair in front, putting grafts there will kill that chance. even if you contact dr keene, i'm sure she will turn you down and so will any other Doctor who give a sh^t about you.

for now just wear a baseball cap backwards. it will keep the sun off and make you look younger. or wear any hat. UV ray might speed things up in people who are already going bald.

i was 23 when bosely medical gave me my first grafts. Bosley went in between hairs, which upsets me now, but it does not look like any old hairs fell out. pretty skilled in the front perhaps, though not with the scar in the back. Anywhay, half of the area they filled in had been smooth hairless bald for 5 years, so I'm not too upset.
Dr keene just filled in areas below that and between hairs where bosley medical had on the smooth skin. i was 26 then, and hand been on propecia almost 1.5 years with some regrowth in the temples whenever i was consistent with the minoxidil. So it seemed safe.

if you are only 19, you probably have been loosing hair for less than 5 years. you should respond well to topicals.
