yeah im going to go against numerous small studies and say green tea and soy products are not the dht fighters everyone wishes they were. Fish and eating healthy even is a pile of crap 2. I know people that eat healthier then any other humans on earth, and they are very bald. They drink green tea, they eat soy products religously but there dad is bald and so are they. Numerous people fall into this category. I wish diet would save my hair, but it wont and neither will most of these supplements. I myself have tried lots of them religously for atleast 4 months.

But a healthy diet can be a good support for the proven treatments we have. Apart from that Green Tea is very good for your overall health as are various other supplements.

There are a bunch of stuff out there ,, but the absolute best ones at inhibiting 5AR (systematically) are Dutasteride/Finasteride and for regrowth; Minoxidil and Tricomin. Best Topical Dht inhibitor is RU58841. Revivogen and Spironolactone are also good , although they dont work for everyone.

lol sorry, religiously for 4 months?

okay, ive had GREAT results with saw palmetto. And MSM, and im sure green tea helps with hair loss because it increases the immune system. same with diet. your hair grows from the inside out, not the other way around.

so the inside needs to be healthy and have all the right ingredients for hair growth.

cross saw palmetto off that list iamnaked. has it ever helped an yone? it's killed the libido a lot of people and you always find it as the main ingredient in those $#iT naturalistic products.

I believe studies have shown it to to be quite effective for reducing dht in the prostate, HOWEVER, no one actually knows for hairloss.

Completely discrediting it not a good idea.

It could very well have a minor effect but who knows. It obviously doesnt have the same effect as propecia.

It apparently has no effect on DHT. Below is something I posted years ago on alt.baldspot:

This is my fourth excerpt from "Alopecia: Unapproved Treatments or Indications", by Drs. Marty Sawaya and Jerry Shapiro.

"Serenoa Repens / Saw Palmetto / Permixon"

"This is very commonly known by patients and clinicians as it is widely available in most nutritional food stores. Serenoa repens berries grow naturally, with the extract claiming to inhibit DHT production, mainly claimed for use in prostate problems. There have been no extensive studies, but because of the stated implications of affecting DHT, men are anxious to try this OTC remedy to see whether it promotes hair growth on the scalp.

"Studies that have been done have compared Permixon with finasteride in treatment of 1098 men with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). Permixon improved symptoms of BPH but had no effect on androgen- dependent parameters such as DHT levels or 5a-R, indicating that its effects must be due to other yet undetermined pathways that do not involve DHT or 5a-R directly. Another study in 32 young men (aged 20 to 30 years) in a 1-week open trial looked at the effects of finasteride versus Permixon with regard to serum androgen levels; no effect on DHT levels were found in the Permixon-treated group, similar to the placebo group, whereas the finasteride group reduced DHT by 65%.

"Side effects noted in taking Serenoa repens in either commercial form of Permixon or Saw Palmetto have been gynecomastia in men, which indicates again that it does not act on DHT alone, but by other as yet unrevealed mechanisms. To be effective the extract of the berries must be taken, not the berries themselves. Another active ingredient, Pygeum africanum compound, is added to this extract and is thought to influence testosterone metabolism, although it is not clear how at this point. The product comes in capsule form with 2 to 6 capsules as the recommended daily dose in divided doses between meals. The cost can range from $12 to $40 per month."

Firstly you are wrong.

Secondly four months is all but an immeasurable length of time with respect to the damage you have caused yourself by way of lifestyle choices since birth. You should hardly expect results in such time, not to mention umpteen other variables that are effecting the efficiency of your religious regimen.

It is an effort for me to go into great detail, yet again, but diet is the likely reason why people lose their hair.

Search for posts regarding Paleolithic diet, Neolithic diet and the evolution of mankind. I draw the lines between the dots that will make you understand why diet is more than a passing thought.

The funny thing is when guys talk about substances like Green Tea Extract and Saw Palmetto Extract, they only talk in terms oral supplimentation but never talk about the effectiveness of them topically. For example there are studies that indicate Greent Tea extract administered topically is very effective for male pattern baldness. I believe the path is DHT inhibition in the scalp. I have also read a study that Saw Palmetto, although it seems to do nothing in terms of blood serum DHT inhibition, local prostrate DHT is significantly reduced to a point where it is at least on par with Propecia. I could have DHT inhibition mixed up with Androgen blocking in one of these. I forget which one. However, either way it's effective for male pattern baldness. This seems to indicate, that if administered topically, would do the same thing, by inhibiting DHT locally in the scalp. If you take this and look at the anecdotal information around and all the topicals containing Green Tea and Saw Palmetto, then you may come to the conclusion that they are very effective, at least as topicals. FYI, just in case anyone is not aware, one of the main ingredients in Revivogen is Saw Palmetto. There are also a few other natural substances as well, that although orally may or may not be effective, they efficacy as a topical seems to have merit.
