Everyone is saying finasteride shows great results at keeping your current hair, but I keep seeing people reporting that after few years of finasteride the drug suddenly stopped working and they lost their progress and are now losing hair like if they never took the drug.

So apparently not only that the drug has a chance not to help at all/ give destructive side effects, it also has a chance to stop functioning after few years?
how is it worth it?
I've researched about the drug enough and pretty much everyone states that once you take the drug, if you ever stop taking it, you will lose all progress very fast but you will ALSO lose hair faster than you would have if you hadn't taken the drug

so once you start finasteride you can NEVER stop or else you're gonna get rekt, if you take finasteride and get side effects you instantly get rekt because then you have to stop and your hair will go bald faster.

It's really hard for me to see any advantages to taking the drug, only to keep my hair good for few years then to get rekt completely?

You know, you might think I'm a conspiracy paranoid but part of me believes that there will never be a cure for baldness simply because it will destroy all of the money empire and businesses revolve around baldness, it gives in so much money to all those meds/scams/little BS treatments that promise to give you hair, it would be like creating a cure for cigarettes or creating anything that will put a stop to a huge oily money industry, it will never happen, the "right" people will prevent it at all cost.

ur not as nutty as u might think

i read somewhere that proctor any gamble or whoever manufactures procpeica has bought a bunch of start ups that showed promising stuff for hair loss. its like oil companies buying up electric car start ups and trashing them just to break any potential competitor.

Exactly, it happens with everything, if you have an empire of money you'll destroy anyone who might up with someone that threatens to take down your empire, and all those at the top of those empires do not give a fck about other people, even if it means curing them or saving their lifes or whatever it is, all they care about is the moolah

that's why I truly believe there will be no cure to baldness, at least not anytime soon.

the answer is obv, is it not?

we have to attach the eco of proctor and gamble, or pfizer, or whoever owns finasteride, to my device of de limbing , eye gauging, and keeping alive via IV.

finasteride looks to me like a lose lose situation, might give you few years of good hair then will get you rekt
I think I'd rather let my hair die slowly with good health and no erectile problems, who knows I might stay with Norwood 2 til I'm 40+ *knocks on wood*
I've also heard some people report that taking finasteride made their muscles softer

this drug is seriously like playing russian roulette ffs, DHT is a super important hormone for the male body.

IDK man... finasteride, in my personal case, not only didn't help, it simply DESTROYED the hair I have left. I had pretty decent density before starting. I could comb my hair and not see any scalp. Month 3 - the start of shedding. Month 6 - crown starts to become see through. Month 10 - you can see through my entire scalp. The ENTIRE time, from three months after starting medication, I was losing hair like it was a chemo drug. When shampooing, my hands were covered in hair every time I ran my hands through it. Ultimately, we need a lot better then to gamble with this bullsh*t drug.

Goddamn, wait, and once you stopped taking it, what happened to your hair? it got even worse?
damn man, it seems like you got the russian roulette bullet right through the mouth
and don't forget that upon everything the drug also has a chance to fck you up for life by giving you side effects that might not go away even AFTER you stopped taking it.

finasteride did the same to me. I went from NW0 to Norwood 2 in a matter of 3 months because of finasteride. I did't have hair loss and I took finasteride just as preventive measure. I brought this curse upon myself. As soon as I stopped finasteride, my hair shedding went down drastically. It's been over 7.5 years now and I went to Norwood 2.5 from NW2 so the recession has been really slow compared to what I experienced while on finasteride. My hair quality changed as well. Before finasteride, my hair was dry but now it gets oily if I don't shampoo it every 3-4 days.

Most finasteride studies show hair counts at or above baseline for most people even after 10 years.
In reality I think its mostly just buying you time. If people can hold onto their hair for 5 more years or whatever, thats 5 less years living as a subhuman and 5 years closer to a better treatment.

Might be, but you forget about the side effects it might give you, and if it does you have to stop the drug immediately, and if you do that then you get rekt.

Even if the side effects are mainly due to placebo, if you already fear and worried about the side effects before you take the drug then it's pretty much game over, because once you take the drug the placebo might take effects and cause you the "sides", but you'll never know if it's because of the drug or just in your head, either way you'll have to stop the taking the drug.

Ironically with this drug, I think only people who have no knowledge of it and no idea about the possible side effects should take it. all the rest who are worry of the side effects shouldn't take it.

And that's why I'm saying there is not going to be a cure for baldness and even if someone will discover one some kingpin will make sure to make them disappear.

I remember bruce willis saying in an interview once that he had tried every single product and procedure for baldness out there with his money and in the end he shaved his head, he said they are all scammers and there is nothing that actually helps baldness.

Well, I'll tell you one thing. I believe that the hair transplant industry and its advocates do not want a cure for hair loss at all because they make HUGE amounts of money from the hair transplant business. They certainly do not want their cash cow suddenly becoming obsolete. I've believed that for a long time.

I don't feel like finasteride has done much for me in the two years I've been on it, recently had my hair cut short and my left temple is receding - my scalp itches (mainly where I think I'm diffusing/receding) tried Nizorol on and off but didn't notice much effect.
- would adding Rogaine make a difference?
