About To Start finasteride For The First Time.

Hi all, I'm new here and as well as introducing myself I would like to say hope everyone is doing well on the hair journey. My finasteride arrived in the post today and I feel nervous about any possible sides but have no choice really at the moment, will try it out and see how it goes.

Would it be a good idea to start on a lower dose such as 0.25 or 0.5? and then ease up to the full 1mg?

Nah just go all in with at least 1mg/day. Don't read about sides and be prepared to wait before something happens, since hairloss is a long term battle, don't think that you recover in a couple of months and good luck fellow finasteride taker.

Its a very long term thing. Take it like a vitamin everyday, and just forget about male pattern baldness. You cant do anything more regardless of whether it works or not. Progress is measured in years so dont wake up next week and stare at your hair for hours nothing will be different

Maybe before you start measure some objective things like wether or not you get morning wood. This can be related to other things then body androgen levels, like the sleep-phase you were in when you woke up. Still worth remembering these things, since one's you've started you won't know wether you're suffering from legitimate side-effects or nocebo effect.
Also consider wether, currently you have any health problems. Specifically, those related to your sexual organs. To rule out later that they are related to finasteride.

I started with .25 for like a week, then .5 for a week, then went up to the full 1mg

It likely made no difference
