Accutane and hairloss

Hello everyone,
I have heard other people talk about a possible link between accutane and hair loss so I though I would tell my story...I went on accutane when I was about 16, for about 6 months, and about 7-8 months after stopping accutane I first noticed my hair loss. My dad lost his hair in his early 20's so I figured that I just have really, really bad genetics...and this may be the case, but there just seem to be too many people with similar experiences to write it off. My hair loss has been diffuse over the entire top of my head, and the sides have thinned much less than the top (if at all). I initially used minoxidil and then added propecia, and neither seemed to be very effective. I stopped propecia about 8 months ago and am now using only minoxidil. Throughout the course of my hair loss the loss has been slow and steady. I had no recession in the front until about 1 year ago, and I still don't have much recession. My hairline is fairly strong. However, my hair is very thin all over and it's very noticeable if I don't liberally apply toppik, and even then it's somewhat noticeable. I guess I'm just looking for any similar experiences, and if anyone has had any success treating (possible) accutane-induced hair loss. I'm pretty confused because I think that my hair loss is *probably* male pattern baldness but it's not really "typical".

Any hairloss you get from Accutane will be while you are on it and it will grow back after 3-6 months. I was on Accutane when I was 16 and had no hairloss until I turned 22 which is when my dad started losing his hair as well. It's your genetics man. Atleast you have clear skin now which is much more important IMHO.

Eight years ago, I was on Accutane - it did nothing for my skin. And today, I am the only one in my immediate family to suffer male pattern baldness (two brothers and a father with full heads of hair).

Screw Accutane.

Same story, nobody in either side has hair loss. My dad has full head of hair, very thick, and is approaching 60. I started to recede when starting accutane, not sure if it was coincidence or not.

I started noticing my hairloss the first time I took accutane about 4 years ago. It cleared me up only for like 2 months but my hair has thinned. It thickened a little bit about a year or two after I last took accutane but it hasn't been the same since. My hairline has not receded... it's just that with good lighting, I can see my scalp through my thinning hair.

Believe it or not, I've decided to take accutane again just in the hopes of finally clearing my moderate acne. I'm 24 years old and I shouldn't be dealing with this acne sh!t. Yeah, I was worried about my hair thinning again and now, it's worse than ever. I probably would not have taken a second course of accutane if it wasn't for this guy I have/had a huge crush on. I wanted to be clear so I can finally ask this guy out.
