it all depends on how much you take. i wouldnt take the prescribed amount which is typically 1mg/1kg. i would take low doses over a broader period of time.

your derm may not like this though.

ah accutane, or as I lovingly refer to it, "the 'tane." (no intentional reference to the highly talented studio/jazz drummer, Jeff "Tane" Watts)

I took 2 courses of el 'twine several years back and I didn't experience any noticable hairloss on it.

My hair is receeding now (5 years later) but I don't think it's related to the 'taint.

good luck. it seemed to do the trick for me back then. Made my face look like the inside of Kate Moss's uterus! Thats a good thing by the way, her uterus is gorgeous.

Love,
Dick "Butter Balls" Hyman

dude you referred to 'the tane' by 3 different names!? whats up with that?

i think the 'tane' has got some bad publicity. Seems that everyone on hairloss forums who has used it, has hair loss.... funny that.

If you look on skin forums, you'll notice few people experience hair loss from tane. Do some wide research.

Fact is Accutane can and does shed hair.

It's listed in the side effects.

*If* you are going to loose your hair to natural causes anyway, then Accutane could speed up the process for you no problem!

I speak from experience. I lost, over the course of the drug...3 months...a 3rd of the weight of my hair on it. Yes I would/will loose my hair anyway, but the speed of loss on that drug, for me, was silly.

After finishing the course, the hair loss slowed right down to where I don't notice it.

On the other hand accutane reduces sebum output and excess sebum is related to hairloss so perhaps it can help aswell.

I think the key point is that accutane CAN cause hairloss. This doesn't mean that it will, it means that in a small percentage of users it has been shown to cause hair loss. Since the exact mechanism that accutane works isn't really known, I don't think anyone can really say for sure how it will affect your male pattern baldness-type hair loss.
