I have some retinoid cream lying around. It's 0.1% adapalene (synthetic tretinoin). I plan to apply a pea-size amount every other night at the same time as Regaine 5% foam in an attempt to improve absorption. Any thoughts on this guys? I read a lot about Retin-A but not i'm not sure how the cream i'm using compares.

I didn't target adapalene to be honest. I visited a dermatologist 1 year ago asking if there was anything i could do to combat dark circles when taking Regaine. He said there wasn't much but gave me a prescription for Differin cream which is 0.1% adapalene - a new synthetic tretonoin. The cream is meant for the face to fight ageing, wrinkles, and acne. Ironically, Regaine foam then stopped working for me and the sides disappeared too. I strongly believe sides are an indicator that the Regaine is working. I am now looking for a way to get minoxidil to be systemically absorbed e.g. lowering of blood pressure and thats why i thought i'd try the cream. Currently applying every other night 30 min before my nightly application of 5% Regaine. The Regaine itself is applied twice daily.

They aren't too bad but it's such a key part of one's face that it can change your look quite noticeably. Anyway, i don't get the dark circles now. As i said above regaine stopped working for me and unsurprisingly i don't have dark circles now. I have to conclude it's just not being absorbed like it was before. I basically need the sides to return!

frankly, i dont think retin a does jack dilly squat for hairloss, even when combined with minoxidil. i think experimental are the wave of the future , and what we should be trying; no more of this azelaic acid, retin a bs

Warner what do you mean by experimental?

My logic is that minoxidil stopped working at precisely the time i stopped getting sides which i assume means it's just not being absorbed anymore. Sides = degree of systemic absorption = regrowth.

when the minoxidil stops working it means the dht in your scalp is so high, its overpowering the minoxidil. i suggest getting on finasteride and ru, and even a higher strength minoxidil, and see ifhow it goes

Have you considered just getting a compounded cream from a reputable pharmacy. I was able to order 15% minoxidil w/ AA, hydrocortisone, finasteride, progesterone, etc.. they can formulate it to your needs. It was only $90 for like 2-3 month supply, depending on how much you use. I like it so far.

Ok just done my third application of the tretinoin followed by the minoxidil and i can feel that tingly heaviness in my eye region i remember getting when regaine used to work for me. I looked in the mirror and hey presto i have these dark triangles under my eyes. I will be measuring my blood pressure in the morning. I hate the sides but encouraged by my attempts to increase absorption. Hopefully crown hair will now thicken in a few weeks.
