Seems to have been given approval as an active ingredient for hair regrowth for medicated cosmetic products by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare .. The Japanese version of the FDA ..

via upregulating both fibroblast growth factor and vascular endothelial growth factor (my god.. can anyone say cancer?).Unfortunately, they didn't use a real placebo, but instead compared adenosine against naicin (?).

I can't seem to find the full text version for a proper look.. but this seems to be in the same class of drugs as minoxidil - a growth promoter. Also it means it's another product you have to use for life..
