advice needed since quitting xandrox 15

Hello everyone,

I've been reading these forums for some time now, and have recently decided to post. I'm 29, and have been fighting a slow diffuse thinning and receding hairline for several years now. My regime consisted of dr. lees 5% minoxidil in the morning, xandrox 15 at night, and nizoral every other day. I felt like I was maintaining, because since I had started, nothing had really changed. Once my last bottle of xandrox 15 ran out, I decided to give revivogen a try. I switched because of two reasons: 1) there was no dr. lee xandrox 15 anymore, and 2) I wanted to try to get off finasteride, even though I was unsure if it was even doing anything for me topically, and in small doses.

Well I believe it was. After being on xandrox for such a long time, I believe minor finasteride sides had creaped up on me. These didn't become apparent until I stopped taking it. And besides that, now that I am about 3 or 4 months post quitting xandrox, my hair is looking worse than ever. I have no idea if its the drop in minoxidil applications (since I'm not getting that 15% from xandrox anymore) or the quitting of finasteride.

I really need advice in choosing something to replace the xandrox. While I wish I could say the revivogen is helping, I can't really tell if it is or not. Some hairs are thicker, but overall density in the top front part of my scalp is getting worse. I'm not sure if I want to get back on finasteride either. I know it works for a lot of people, and everyone has their own opinion on if its safe and not, but I'm still on the fence. Topicals would be my preference.

I've been trying to sort through all the information on spectral dnc, nanoxidil, dualagen 15... is there a good known topical with finasteride in it? The new xandrox 15 supplier seems very shady... especially with the new reports of the xandrox smelling like paint thinner.

I appreciate any suggestions. And thanks to all of you for the information that I have gained from reading through the posts here.

You didnt state how long you've on each treatment. I think your recent sheds are more related to you stopping finasteride. To replace the higher %minoxidil in xandrox you can use 3ml of 5% nightly instead.

Get back on finasteride and see if your sides subside over time, usually they do, and make sure it's not just all in your head.

Fyi, generics are never as strong as brand named drugs. I was on finasteride for 10 months and didn't see improvement. Then i switched to Propecia and saw better results.

If you absolutely can't or won't use finasteride/Propecia then consider RU58841. Other than that I can't think of any other Replacement unless you want to go the dutasteride route.

Your wrong about that. It dont matter whether you take propecia, finpecia or proscar, as long as its the same dosage its exactly the same since the active ingredient in all of them is finasteride. Thats like saying rogain 5% is stronger than Kirkland 5%.

If its not as strong then the reason is likely down to fake drugs using lower active ingredients.

I'll see if I can find the study I posted on HS a while back showing generics not on par with brand name. I saw the results my self. finasteride was barely doing anything for me until I switched to propecia. Prpecia is still allowing my hair to thin and shed unfortunately, but not as bad as it was in finasteride.

Thanks for the replies.

I've been on minoxidil for about 5 years and had been using xandrox 15 plus (I forgot the "plus" in my previous post indicating the finasteride in the solution) for about 2 years.

Are there any good known topicals with finasteride? I know its silly to think that the topical is any less dangerous than the pill, but its just what I had been comfortable with in my regime.

a) there is no evidence to date indicating topical finasteride works
b) do like me and start looking into RU58841 :innocent: . Propecia alone is not enough for me anymore unfortunately.

I am evidence. Whether you believe me or not, you can decide. It is very unfortunate that Lee got shut down, as I am sure xandrox 15+ was working for me, at least maintaining. I don't want to touch the new xandrox 15+ after reading everyone's posts on it.

I haven't seen much on spironolactone... is that even worth trying?
