Hey,
Well I don't apply it all over the front. I apply minoxidil only to my temples. In the first few weeks i noticed shedding around the temporal area. Then at the end of month 2 i noticed peach fuzz which has now turned into vellous hairs and are just getting stronger and darker as time goes on. I think if you look up some of Niles Tilden's posts, he will have something that you may want to hear.

Hey:

I replied to your earlier post already on this topic. You would think that after being on finasteride for over two years that you would be familar with the transient nature of shedding by now. I know shedding's a b**ch, I'm going through one right now, you just have to stick with your treatment.

I use minoxidil all over. This of course includes the front. I do have mild recession in the corners of my hairline, but at this point they have filled in (the left still being a bit thin, but the right being about as good as the rest of the top).

After my first month of minoxidil I had a bad shed. I was devistated. My hair had never looked so bad. I became very depressed, and felt that my life might just be over. Drastic thoughts, yes, but perhaps you can relate.

At month two I shaved my head. There was something liberating in this,. I may not have looked as good as I used to, but I sure as hell wasnt worrying about how bad my hair looked! I'm no Vin Desil. Pulling off the no hair look is little bit of a stretch for me. But I carried myself with confidence and felt a new freedom in that.

At month three I let it start to grow back in. By month four, I realized my hair was looking pretty damned decent. Soon I was able to spike it again and like how it looked... I think shaving my head played a significant role in that; it did wonders for my scalp health.

But wouldnt you know it, that didnt last that long. Months 7 and 8 hit me with two more devistating concurent sheds. I attribute these to finasteride, though Im really not sure. Once again I fell into depression, and once again shaved my head.

By the time month 10 rolled around, however, my hair had grown back out and was looking better then it had in YEARS...but the rollercoaster ride wasnt over.

I realized, one day, that my scalp was EXTREMELY irritated. It didnt hurt, didnt itch, unless I touched or massaged it, which I never did (too afraid I'd pull out hairs) and consequently, I had the worse shed yet. However one thing was different this time,.. I didnt freak out. By this time I was used to the ups and downs, not to mention I've become far more accepting of the fact that theres a chance I may not win this battle, and that its really O.K. Even without hair, I have the drive and determination to fight for my share of joy and happieness in this life.

Once again I shaved my head. That was a week and a half ago. My scalp is already feeling much better. I think I have a good chance at getting back to where I was a month ago, and maybe even staying there as long as I am mindfull of my scalp. It would be nice. But not nessisary.

Keep your chin up, man. No matter what happens, dont let that fire go out.

no, that sure does but my situation is different
i never noticed a shed and the hairs that im losing now are barely visible they are so thin, i really think that minoxidil is suffocating my follicles

5 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THATS A LONG FRICKIN TIME
Im on 3.5 months at once a day (10/week) how long do i have to go
10 months??????????????

its rediculous cuz i started seeing this girl, who i really really like, just as i was starting minoxidil, i avoid sleeping over her house now cuz i dont want her to kick me to the curb cuz of the loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS BLOWS

before minoxidil i would go through sheds and a little while later i would
feel little prickly hairs (i think they were hairs growing back in) and sure enough in a few weeks my hair looked good

a month and a half ago i notice a sh*t load of those prickly hairs so i thought maybe it was the hair that might have shed from initial minoxidil,

well sure enought THIS IS MY CONCERN, i feel hairs that are soooooo
thin that are about an inch long, and i notice 1-1.5 inch hairs that are pretty much dead

AND THIS IS WHY MY HAIR LOOKS THINNER AND FEELS THINNER, B/C THE HAIR THAT I MIGHT HAVE SHED AT MONTH ONE HAVE GROWN BACK BUT ARE ALMOST NON EXISTANT

ANYONE UNDERSTAND?

Thinstinks, you have to understand some of the basic mechanics of hair regrowth. When hairs shed, and then go BACK into regrowth stage, the new hair shafts are very very thin. As the follicle continues through growth stage, the hairshaft gets continually thicker, and is at its thickest right about the time when it is ready to shed again. The entire cycle can last from one to several years, for very healthy hair.

Give it time. 12 months.

jeez, here we go again

I KNOW THIS, AND I APPRECIATE THE ADVICE
but im saying when they grow to a noticeable length 1.5-2inches
there is no thickness and it gets thinner to the bottom of the shaft

usually when theyd grow back in theyd be the same throughout the hair

and this is why i am shittin my pants, cuz this never happened before
