All finasteride users please reply, explain your results on finasteride and ups and downs & also explain in depth if you went through any shedding phases.

1) how long you been on finasteride
2) Any shedding phases, if so when during treatment did it start and how long or how many times & did it grow back thicker. explain when the shedding occurred within treatment and how long it lasted and when the thicker hair came through, also how bad was the shedding
3) what other treatments you on ( were you on other treatments before or after finasteride)
4) would you say the results on finasteride was good or bad

2) Any shedding phases, if so how long or how many times & did it grow back thicker.: 1 shed so far began a few weeks back and is now starting to grow back in I think.

3) what other treatments you on: Min

4) would you say the results on finasteride was good or bad: Good I think, recession stopped and density is recovering.

1) 5 months and 1 week

2) I've been shedding small and miniaturized hairs since the end of the 3rd month, now is starting to decrease. Most shedded hairs were from my crown. I saw 5-10 hairs every time I applied minoxidil and maybe 20 in the shower.. I don't pay much attention so I'm sure they were a lot more. Now its 3 or 4 when minoxidil and 5-10 in the shower.
I guess I'm now more or less at baseline... I really hope all those miniaturized hairs grow back thicker and healthier.

4) Will judge at the 15 months mark. For now I try to stay possitive while I ride out the sheds.

Shedding occurred maybe like a month back till now, and is just now coming back significantly thicker. I was/is pretty bad, honestly I almost lost my will to hang through it. Without these forums I would have quit finasteride halfway through the shed. I thank everyone who told their stories about shedding phases.

2) no shedding for the first 2 years, then it occured for a few months and my hair has gotten a little worse

3) big3 and added RU when that decrease in finasteride effectiveness happened

Btw my shedding now is speeding up big time, its good I'm shedding early correct or bad?

I Remeber reading somewhere that finasteride shedding shoukd either start happening in the beginning is good or during 3 rd month is good, can't recall...

But the shedding is massive right now, and only thing I added new was finasteride


Even my temples are way worse this month because of the finasteride shedding, crazy last year I was a Norwood 1.5 now I'm a Norwood 2.5, I hope to God this shedding will be good...

By the way I'm now 25 today hope next year I have more hair

I advise you, you stop worrying about the hairloss for now and think that you are doing what you can to stop, that is, applying the most effective drug, propecia. Stay away from the forums for a while, I'll assure you will have a head full of thick hair and might as well go back to norwood 1...since you caught it this early.

Just watch out for the side effects, otherwise even if you keep that hairline (Which i believe u will grow more hair), you still look good !

Gl man, stop worrying let propecia due the work, shedding's normal and good sometimes.

I am off finasteride now but still:

between October 2008 and August 2011

Shedding for the first 3 months, then normal shedding in spring and fall but nothing out of the ordinary.

3) what other treatments you on

Excellent - almost bald to a full head of hair. But it came at a price: insane sexual sides and brain fog that were severely affecting my love life and personal development. After I came off things went crazy for about 2 months before I got back to normal.

isn't this the 3rd or 4th time you've gone back on finasteride just to lose more hair from it?

i don't know why you bother. myself, as well as a few others i've heard from actually find finasteride expedited the hair loss and no, having a massive shed within a week is a bad sign.

why not try dutasteride instead?

I have only been on finasteride for about a month. 0.5 mg per day along with Spectral nano and keto. Currently Norwood 2. No big difference so far. I'm a diffused thinner and nearly 30. I've noticed a few hairs coming out when I rub my hair but not what I would consider a shred. Little bit of ball ache but no other sides. The only thing I have noticed is the irritation and 'itcyness' of my scalp has died down a lot.

On the skin problem, I recently started using Clearogen. I've only been using it a week and my skin is so much better. I have oily skin, big pores and some spots and my skin is fantastic. It is a topical DHT blocker along with anti-bacterial. Don't bother with the cleaner just go Acne lotion and use a normal cleanser. Should help a lot.

Dude your not NW2.5, you have quite a solid hairline, maybe it's thinner now cause of the shed, but it looks good still. You MIGHT be pushing NW2, and as a 25 year old that's perfectly fine.

Anyhow: I'm on dutasteride now, might consider going back to finasteride. However I was on it for 7 months, and I think it has thickened up my hair back then.
