Can anyone tell me what a good alternative, if not better, than minoxidil is as a growth stimulant?

Nothing. It's the only FDA approved hair re-growth agent.

Do you really think there's any particular relevance between your first word ("Nothing") and the rest of your statement ("It's the only FDA approved hair re-growth agent")? :dunno: Are you one of those strange people who believe that there are exactly TWO agents in the entire universe that help grow hair? :)

Do you know how much money it costs to get a drug through FDA approval? We are talking tens of millions of dollars!

Uhh...it costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

Also Adenosine, is an effective growth stimulant, there are also drugs which have an off lable side effect of hair growth such as, Phenytoin sodium, and Diazoxide, but I wouldn't recomend those due to potential side effects. I would recommend Bimatoprost though....

Don't forget NANO. That's probably very much like minoxidil in the way it works.

Well, I've noticed that minoxidil's effacy on me has faded somewhat. I have been using it for a couple of years now. So, I guess my body is used to it so the effects aren't as great. Looking for an alternative or something to add to my regime which may help

What about Tricomin? gourmetstylewellness.com seems to endorse it for some reason

No, hence the "fda approved" part of my comment. I'm sure that there are several other things that you can do to regrow, but I'm not aware of any store or pharm that you can go to and pick up some RU, CB, or Bio. My opinion is to try the proven things, then move on from there if you need more.

The irony you might not realize is that there is plenty of evidence to suggest minoxidil is far less safe than practically any OTC or experimental out there, FDA or no FDA!

Oh, and same goes for the only other FDA proven treatment, finasteride! Sure, so you may not actually die directly from finasteride, but you might eventually want to.

Well that first link carries a product..I just don't know how legit it is. There are also many products out there(like the just mentioned one) that contain the pro's in the form of grape seed extract..apple peel extract...barley...etc. I am unaware of any product that contains pure procyanidins- the B-2 etc. Divine Skin/Spectral says theirs contains more than the % in these studies..and these days they actually do list them as Procyanidin B-2 and C-1 in the ingredients list..so maybe they do now. (they've said and claimed some weird things in the past..so who knows.)

I would want to try next...the pro's encapsulated in nanosomes or something similar. I used that Medicated Mohkatsurin PB product- http://www.kyowa-kirin.co.jp/english/news/kyowa/er991101.html years ago..and did quite well with it. Lost my source for it though. I've always tried to use something in my rotation that contains the pro's in some form- gse..apple peel..etc.

I noticed Bryan's rare mention of NANO :woot: ...just kidding..but I am curious what kind of studies/research is out there for that one.

The big question is the cost. I remember Elsom looking into it awhile back and the cost was insane. I suppose a company like Spectral sells enough that they can order something like the pro's in larger quantities...but then you add all the other ingreds.... :dunno:

I guess there isn't much out there for the NANO..other than the "patents"...
