what is the best alternative? I feel like minoxidil bloats my face a little? Not really sure. Could alchohol cause the flushing and wrinkly look that i get from minoxidil? I would like some good alternative? But not sure what contains no alchohol. Otherwise, i could stick with minoxidil if it doesnt casue sides like i mentioned above.

Try 2-3% AHK-CU solution. It is an experimental treatment that is arguably the best alternative growth stimulant to minoxidil. Many people would say Tricomin wouldn't cut it as it has low concentrations of AHK-CU. Probably would be better to use both but that is not an option for me at least. If you aren't on an anti-androgen such as finasteride or RU, then you are probably wasting your time.

It depends on exactly how you define "alternative to minoxidil", but one of the best might be the substance we call NANO (available in certain topicals, and also in a shampoo and related conditioner). But I'll warn you right away: the stuff isn't cheap!

Bryan has been shill'n 'n pushing Proctor products, like NANO, for 15+ years. http://www.gourmetstylewellness.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=72201

To ShaneA655...you could look into a procyanidin-based topical. One product I'm using is a plant stem-based topical...was just thinking it'd be nice if such a topical could also include some pure procyanidins.

There's also Nanoxidil if you're into experimenting with something quite new. http://www.dslaboratories.ro/spectralf7/nanoxidil-vs-minoxidil/

Jacob,

The product I referred to was ApllyPoly. I've been to the website and it seems kinda weird. I've never tried it before so it could turn out to be a great product.

Could you recommend a good product that contains apple procyanidins? I've been looking for some, but all I've been able to find was Revita Vinifolin hair tonic. That's the only one that seems decent.

Did you mean Revigen?

I really don't have any to suggest. They all most likely contain the 1% or whatever they say is needed..it's just via those extracts and not pure procyanidins. Maybe that doesn't make a difference...

Divine Skin has a # of products I think contains the pro's..I think their Polaris Labs might as well...Phyto has some...there's this one http://mediway.krmaster.com/eng/pdf/pilose_english_brochure.pdf ..etc etc.

jacob,

do you have any success with your treatment?

Just noticed this. My regimen listed on here isn't my current one..will change it one of these days. But I've done quite well..still looking for the mega-hair grower for the stubborn areas.

Jacob,

The PILOSE product seems pretty interesting. I might try it out, but I'm unable to find a source that will sell it. I'll keep looking. Anyway, thanks for the recommendations.

Supposedly you can order directly from them. The prices may have changed, but this is what they sent me some time ago:

PILOSE LINE

Shampoo (255ml) - 33.27USD

Tonic (150ml) - 48.80USD

Serum (50ml) - 48.80USD

Payment - T/T in advance

Shipment - DHL (freight collect)

Here's Phyto's latest product..or one of their latest. Besides the apple stem cells, etc..it also contains the pro's: http://www.thinning-hair-solution.com/phytolium4-traitement-chute-cheveux.php

While it's used for scalp/hair health..I've never read anything saying it's got much of the pro's in it.

Well there are quite a few of them that contain the pro's..via gse or apple extract...etc. Not sure which one you're referring to.

Since it seems too expensive or ? to use the pure procyanidins..I'd love to see this in a topical: http://www.salvona.com/abstracts/15/original/HBA_9.23.08_hair_presentation.pdf?1222414508

Wow, this seems really interesting. Isn't there a possibility of making a topical based on the polyphenols of apples? Possibly with caffeine added. What is that I don't see?

Well there are products out there that contain them...just not with the/or a encapsulated ingred like in that link.

What do you mean by 'encapsulated ingred'? Sorry if it's obvious. And isn't there a way to do this or make this yourself? I believe it's all about the normal polyphenols found in apples. Can't one make a topical at home with this as a main ingredient? Possibly using minoxidil as another key ingredient, they report the use of minoxidil as enhancing the penetration and efficacy.

A vehicle (agglomeration of high molecular weight
polymers) that encapsulates functional ingredients, protects
and delivers the active functional ingredients into the
needed site, hair follicles and enables to release over time.

More info on their website: http://www.salvona.com/

I wouldn't bother trying to make your own encapsulated product....

Hmm, I see. But alcohol is some kind of vehicle too, I don't see why the polyphenols wouldn't penetrate in the hair follicles when mixed with alcohol or minoxidil..

Well I'm sure they do penetrate etc. Those Japanese "studies"(some before/after pictures out there) were done with the procyanidins in an alcohol-based topical. But if you read that website and other info on liposome/nanosome type carriers..you'll see why they're being used. Time-release of the ingredients...etc etc..
