I'm 23 and I have always had thin hair (albeit a lot of it when I was younger) and I am part Asian.

I noticed definite thinning in my sideburns area/temples but not too much receding on the hairline. About 6-8 mo ago I noticed my crown when I saw the back of my head in a mirror and was kind of shocked (since then it seems similar and I have not lost a significant amount more).

In the light, there is a clear bald spot and it seems like the hair growing from that area is smaller than the rest of my head?? (may just be the way I style my hair/cowlick but I am not sure).

I have not noticed shedding unless 3-10 hairs a day from showering is weird and a few on my pillow/towel.

My dad has a similar thing on the back of his head in that it has an open skin area but he still has (thinner) hair at 60+ but he is more Asian genetically than I am (keep seeing this thing about an asian whorl).

I talked to a Doctor on forhims.com and he prescribed by 1mg finasteride (seems high for my case, no?) and Minoxidil (probably wont use minoxidil) to me for regrowth and prevention but I am worried about taking it if I am not balding. I saw a bunch of people on here with similar crowns to mine and I am looking to see if anyone had hair like mine and where they are at 27-30s. Sorry if I am tripping, thank you!

Your hair is fine dude. Don't go with companies like hims or roman they throw finasteride prescriptions around like candy and they are not hair loss experts. If anything, if it gets any worse go to your doctor and see what they have to say.

Unbelievable that in 2020 with all the knowledge we have and regardless of how much we evolved as a species, in the US they prescribe prostate shrinking medicine to kids for hair loss. Absolutely unbelievable, after finasteride they give them xanax and oxy and they got them hooked for life since a young age, medicine, fast food, p**rn and instagram dependents until they die. What a fucked up world, clown world at it's finest. Go check your PSA levels before taking finasteride and take a test after 6 months, too see what this medicine really does and for what it was designed in the first place.

Regarding your hair, i could be lighting, i don't really think it's thinning, track it with photos for a couple of months if you see differences in terms of density check a real doctor, he will most likely prescribe you the same thing but at least get some tests first, see how much miniaturization you have and so on, blood tests bla bla.

RIGHT! thats why i don't advocate large companies that literally throw pills around like candy for hair loss...

Why would you recommend that?

From the research I did it seems like once you start you cant stop and if anything I am in the early stages. Or am I wrong?
You can't stop finasteride too if you don't want to lose hair and if you stop minoxidil after some time, you will only lose minoxidil dependent hair and after stopping it your hair will be same as if you had never used minoxidil.
