Hi All, so I made another thread with not great pictures saying I'd be seeing a doctor soon and a dermatologist in 2020. The doctor confirmed I have mild balding. Now at 26, he says my hairline might keep receding or it might not move at all, not sure what I want to do at this point...

1. How my hair typically looks (usually much less messy but I have been playing with it a lot haha, you can see why I never really noticed the recession: https://i.imgur.com/U6DMaK8.png

2. left back of head, no hair loss

3. right back of head, showing my hair whorl, I have had this my whole life so I'm not too concerned

If you could tell me if I'm at Norwood 2 or 3, and if I should just consider letting nature take its course? If I can make it another 5-10 years, I never expected to have a full head of hair at 40 lol,I just wanna get to 35 ish

Looks like it’s somewhere between a Norwood 2 and a Norwood 3, but can’t tell for sure without a reference pic from when you were younger. As for letting nature take its course, that depends entirely on how important your hair is to you.

Depending on your original hairline, this could qualify as a borderline mature hairline. If that is the case, then the recession should halt in the very near future. Take pictures every 3 months then compare. If it stops, your good to go, if not it’s time to consider treatment.

In the meantime, research treatment methods and take the time to fully consider the value of your hair and how far you are willing to go to save it. This will allow you to immediately begin a regimen should you need to.

Thanks! I think the dermatologists have tests to confirm? My GP said I have mild balding and it may take many years to show (I couldn't tell), I'm just confused as to what to do as at 26 I'd like to have it till I'm like 40 (it's all over at that point anyways haha)

Is every 3 months thought of as a generally accepted tracking timeline?
