Am I receding? Or is this my mature hairline? [pics]

Hey guys... I'm 23, and just recently started taking into consideration my hairline. I've always had a longer hairstyle, so I don't really have any other picture to make a basis off of. I can tell you that I have lost 45 pounds in about 5 months, and my hair (which was always really thick) has thinned out in the vertex area tremendously (this is normal according to websites).... I just need your opinion on my hairline. Sorry if these are bad angles. I have always had a larger forehead, and my hairline has never been straight across. Thanks so much in advance for your time.

First your overall hair looks to be still good. But in my opinion your front looks like its receding. Your temples have receded and I see miniaturisation at your current hairline. Keep a good eye on it and be prepared for treatment.

tiny pic is garbage, imgur is better I cant see the pics. If you are in the early stages of male pattern baldness though you should start finasteride, if you are in moderate stages I would start finasteride in combo with minoxodil 5% liquid once or twice daily

Thanks for the replies. If I were to get on finasteride alone, could I reverse this since it's so early?

If I took both finasteride and minoxidil and saw results, would I keep my hair if I stayed on with finasteride and dropped minoxidil?

Looks pretty similar to what I have at 22 except I'm not thinning on the front, only the temples.

Yeah I don't think that my frontal hairline is receding. My hair has gotten thinner since going no carbs. My hairline is half an inch above my furrowed brow.

So many guys seem to notice the first signs of male pattern baldness after losing a lot of weight. Myself included! I wonder if there's a link?

Well when you have such a cut in calories and carbs you deprive your body (hair included) of essential nutrients. I was hanging my hat on that hopes that it is just an effect of weight loss, and not male pattern baldness.

Things like depression and man boobs do not make finasteride a desirable drug.

I was really hoping it was just my imagination.

When I started losing hair I blamed it on bodybuilding... than i saw my brother (who's 1 year older than me) that i haven't seen for 2 years...he had the exact same pattern of hair loss as me. Yeah than i knew it was MBP.

So what are you saying exactly? Although I am not in denial, ( just ordered finasteride from inhouse), I am reserving judgement until my body recovers from the shock of the weight loss.

If I do have male pattern baldness, what stage am I in? Thanks

I really dont believe men have miniaturized hairs unless its from male pattern baldness. I dont think diet whether its losing weight or anything has any real effect much like diet doesnt make your allergies get better or worse. I mean hair loss patterns in third world countries are about the same as they are here or in jail where they eat garbage every day for years. Clearly its something like hormones that change naturally as you age that you have little if any control over. most men that have exceptional hair at old age have unusually little or no facial hair/body hair which coincides with the importance of androgens in males.

Maybe it doesn't affect the hairline, but significant weight loss DOES affect your hair everywhere else. Of course, there are exceptions, but it's no secret that your hair is affected by your diet. My hair is significantly thinner in my vertex region since my diet, however the slight receding in my hairline may certainly be male pattern baldness.
