Am I Suffering From Vertex Thinning?

Edit: added two new pics later down in the thread.

Alright, some background: 24 years old, hair loss seems to have started about a year ago, but I only noticed back in February. Currently I've got receded temples akin to a NW1-2 (https://imgur.com/a/oydVUzk photos from february). Looking at older photos, I could trace the hair loss back to ~1 year ago, but earlier than that I saw no signs of hair loss. The first undeniable signs were really from last summer. Family history: lots of baldness on dad's side, he was something like a NW3 at 25. On mom's side, hair loss is common but much milder - my grandpa on mom's side showed had somewhat receded temples in his late 20ies (probably a Norwood 1.5 or a Norwood 2), but things progressed very slowly from there: at 40 he had receded temples but thick hair so it looked pretty good, he still has a good amount of hair at 90 today. Looking at older photos of my grandpa and my dad at my age, my condition seems a lot better than my dad's but worse than my grandpa.

Either way - up until recently, I thought my problem was only receded temples, something akin to a Norwood 1-2. I examined my vertex but couldn't see any sign of balding there, which comforted me. However, roughly one month ago, I started finding individual shedded hairs all over the place. I realized that if I ran my hand through my hair, I'd often find one or two hairs in my hand afterwards. Shake my hair over the sink and I'd find more. This made me worried, and I posted a few threads on here. Here is one of them, with pics for comparison:

https://www.gourmetstylewellness.com/intera...is-thinning-at-the-crown.121810/#post-1787649

The shedding has continued since at a uneven pace. Some days I shed a lot, other days I don't. I still didn't know what to make of the shedding, but I thought that since I don't _ONLY_ shed at the crown, I also shed at the sides and the back a bit (although probably a lot less than the crown), maybe this isn't due to male pattern baldness and maybe I'm not slowly developing a bald spot. Maybe it's a sign of stress, for example? Developing a bald spot one year after male pattern baldness ensued seemed a bit much.

But as the shedding has continued, I've grown more and more suspicious. I've taken a lot of pictures of my crown since, but generally they've calmed me down since I only see the scalp where my hair parts. However, today's pics made me question what's really going on. Please look at the pics and help me figure out what's going on, I'll post a few pics from this month! For last month's comparison, go to the thread above. The images are more or less completely chronological, but all of them are from the past few weeks. You see me wearing my hair in a few different ways, combed and parted, sort of messy (like I usually wear it), parted and wet and for the last few pics I parted my hair at the crown intentionally (not like I usually wear it at all, I only did this to really examine if there is any balding going on), and those are the pics that really worry me. Please let me know what you think! Am I suffering from a very aggressive form of male pattern baldness?

EDIT: for the record, i chose pics that shows my hair both when it doesn't look like i'm thinning at all (like m5-m7) and pics that seem to indicate more thinning (m93-m96) to show the whole spectrum, so to speak. but either way i'm aware that this would be the very early stages so it might be hard to tell. i'm very grateful for any response.

is there another reasonable explanation for my shedding? i'm shedding quite a lot, hairs come off when i just run my hand through my hair, more when i shake my hair and so on. some hairs do shed from the non-balding areas, like the side burns and above the neck, but most of it seems to be from the top of the head. i have naturally thin individual hairs, but i don't think most of the shedded hairs are miniaturized. it's really hard to tell though.

I usually don't lose more than 100 hairs per day, but like you I lose most of them from the front and crown, but I clearly have a receded hairline and thin spot on my crown the size of my palm.

I'm not seeing that in your pics.

Most men don't go bald on the entire top of their head at once, they usually start losing above the temples first, then at the crown. To me, you look like you have a cowlick.

I wouldn't worry.

Oh but I have clearly receded temples (sadly). here are some pics from my thread from february, not much has changed: https://imgur.com/a/oydVUzk

To clarify: I'm a NW1/NW2 worried about currently developing a thin spot since that would signal some really agressive hair loss, going from a NW0-ish to a thin spot with receded temples in one year.

I see now. You might want to look into finasteride. Your hair still looks good but it will probably recede and thin as you age. You've got time to research and do your homework so don't panic.

Thanks. Considering finasteride, but I'm very turned off by the potential side effects. Can't see myself going on finasteride unless my hair loss is super aggressive atm.

Two new pics from today as an update. I fear that the area where my hair parts is growing bigger and bigger due to shedding, developing into a bald spot. Please give me your thoughts and opinions on this.

To me, lots of things indicate this is what's going on, but it feels so harsh given that I'm just about a Norwood 1.5 and I have only been suffering from hair loss for about a year. But how else do I explain what's going on?

I would recommend seeing a dermatologist about the shedding, as it could be lots of things besides male pattern baldness. An inflamed scalp due to really bad dandruf, telplogen effluvium (stressed based hair loss), a vitamin deficiency, fungal infection, etc. All of these would cause defuse thinning, which would also make hair parts and hair whorls more noticeable

I recently went through just this very thing, fearing that I was going bald only for a dermatologist to do a scalp biopsy and reveal I had telogen effluvium.

Besides that just take pictures every 3-6 months and after a year compare them across each step. That's what I am in the process of doing so that I can hopefully see no change aftet a year and can stop stressing about it

Looks fine to me . but pattern balding is very very common after 30 unless one have hair transplant or medication. So be proactive or prepared your mind for future baldness coming, nobody can escape this only few does. Best luck.

Thanks for all the replies so far. I really appreciate it.

I will book a time with a dermatologist soon, I've been putting it off due to being busy with a lot of projects, but I'll have to make time for a derm meeting.

I do take photos - a lot of them, to be honest. My temples haven't receded noticably for three months, from what I can tell at least. However, the rapid shedding makes me worried, but it's really hard to tell on the photos since my hair is somewhat lengthy and it looks very differently from day to day.
