Am starting to bald at the crown or is this normal?

23 years old, hairline started to recede more than half a year ago.

Since then I've become more conscious of how my hair looks and for the first time I've taken a look at my crown recently.

As far as I can tell, there has been always less hair at that spot, but I was taken aback when I saw how little hair there actually is now.

Is this normal that there is a spot like this, or am I starting to bald there? Maybe it's been always like this, but I didn't realize it because I didn't use to pay attention to these things. I also thought that the front would need to recede considerably, before there would be any hair loss at the crown?

Question is important, because I use Minoxidil at the front to treat the hair loss. And once you've started that treatment, you can't stop. So, I don't want to apply Minoxidil at the spot, unless I'm sure that it's really balding and not normal, otherwise I'd have to apply that stuff there for years, even though it wouldn't have been necessary.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

It's normal.

It actually is possible to loss hair at the crown without the hairline receding tho. I know a guy has started losing lately. He's got a massive bald spot on his crown. But still a nw1 at the front.

The front half is thick and then he's got a bald spot the size of a palm at the back. He's 27.

Ok, that's a relief then. I had feared that it had suddenly started at the front and the crown at the same time. Thanks for your answers.

full head, full head, lalalalala

but srs, it appears normal, go live life without the worry of us baldcels

Well, as I said, my hairline is receding without a doubt if that makes you feel any better. That's why I came to this website in the first place.

I think it looks about normal but I know when I had my first signs of balding I felt a lot better once I got on treatments for it.

If you can find a doctor that will prescribe it to you I'd try to get on finasteride. Obviously I can't be sure it slowed my thinning but it made me feel like at least I was doing all I could. With a Sam's Club Plus membership its only like $48 a year too.

I disagree - that's how my hair looked when I first noticed I was losing. I was about 20.

I have ZERO recession and have a thinning crown and midscale. My hairline is completely intact.

Well, how can I know for sure if it's normal or not? My next appointment with the dermatologist is in mid-June.

The (potential) sideeffects of that medication are too dangerous in my opinion. I haven't tried it but I don't have the impression that it is safe, nor that it's worth it.

Looks fine m8

Just going along with what most in the thread say to get to the five post count, to be able to make your own thread? :turned:
I know that feeling :)

But seriously, why does someone have to post five times before being able to make his own thread?

It looks fine to me man. However you did say that you were receding at the hair line, so you may want to look into available treatments (Finasteride) to prevent further loss.

What do you think guys:

Normally I'd that's a typical cowlick. But the thinning goes well beyond the cowlick area. Therefor;

Get on finasteride if you're willing to risk it and if you don't get side effects, STAY ON IT.
Get on minoxidil.
Get on Stemoxydine.
Get on Nizoral.
Use any shampoos that have castor oil, saw palmetto, and stemoxydine.
Use a dermaroller once a week.
Find you're self a woman NOW and get married while you've got a chance. You don't wanna be forever alone.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just a bit confused as I can't decide whether or not you are trolling, as your last sentence doesn't seem serious.
