ammo shortage

This is the first I'm hearing of the micro eagle so I just checked it out. It's a good looking pistol but it's getting mixed reviews at the very best. It looks awesome, but good looks aren't going to save your life.
I wouldn't recommend it but then again I don't own one. If you do decide to get one let me know your take on it.

I have a S&W 340 hammerless scandium revolver. It's a powerful gun but compared to the Glock 26 I have it's not a tremendous difference in size. Don't forget you still have the barrel to consider. Although it is ultra lightweight, it's still not the easiest gun to conceal. The Glock is a great gun, always fires and very dependable with good stopping power but it's a big weapon to try and conceal and kills my back in my in the pants holster. I'm considering a .380 (the Kel Tech P3AT to be exact) just to have something extra for days when I'm not wearing something that makes the 26 or the S&W easy to conceal.

I've been doing some more research and it seems the only negative reviews are about the trigger pull on the Micro Desert Eagle. Even then you have most people not complaining about it at all. I figure it's worth a try. I'm going to make my way into a shop and see how the pull is compared to the kel tec. The kel tec seems poorly made in comparison. The MDE seems a lot more sturdy for the type of gun. If the MDE trigger pull suits me I might pick one up.
I guess now it's just a matter of finding ammo.

Around here where I live in Michigan, ammo shortages have been very real.
After people realized Obama would win, and the Democrats would retain control over Congress, people panicked and started hoarding ammo from what I've read and heard from ammo companies. Along with the fact that millions of new gun owners apparently bought guns and those guns need ammo.
Apparently, this is loosening up somewhat but my order for some bulk .38 Special from a reputable company (i.e., Georgia Arms) will take 2-3 months to fill due to backlog orders.
From my limited experience, and listening to other members at gun forums, the ammo shortage is very real FWIW.
The same type of thing occurred for people trying to buy new AR-15's but that shortage appears to have waned in recent weeks.

Finding ammo is ridiculous lately. It can still be had at local gun shops but you're paying a premium price. Funny thing is that I wandered into Walmart the other day to see if they had any WWB and got to chit chatting with the dude in sporting goods and he said that they get shipments of ammo everyday and it's gone within an hour of coming off the truck. I guess they're only getting a few boxes everyday because the manufacturers can't produce it fast enough and that's why they're always out.
A local gun store is running a pretty sweet deal... a case of 7.62 (1200 rounds) and an AK-47 for $1000! Though I can't recall the manufacturer/country of origin, still seems pretty strong as the ammo alone probably accounts for 80% of the price.
As far as CCW, Kel-Tecs work. I forget what they're called but those mini 1911s seem to be pretty popular. Personally, I don't like the idea of having to carry a single action pistol cocked and locked... that's why I fancy the HK USP SA/DA with its decocking lever.

I didn't know Bass Pro Shop sold pistols... matter of fact, they had about 5-6 HK USP/P 2000 model pistols in there in addition to what I thought was a rather decent overall selection of handguns. However, they didin't have my coveted HK USP Compact .40 SA/DA preferred embodiment which was lame but overall the selection wasn't bad. Price tag was definitely aggressive so I didn't "fux wit dem" because I know that I don't need to be spending $995 on a USP when I've seen them all day at $700+ when you're actually able to find a retailer of the elusive HK pistol line (probably the second store I can recall that carried them in my area).
I wonder why the ammo shortage. I'd like to think that Americans aren't still in a total frenzy to stock up on arms but who knows, eh? I do know that it's a total pain in the butt to find 9mm right now so I don't even worry about trying to get out to the range.

Never knew that about Bass Pro Shops either.
Choreboy: HK pistols are high-end items and usually hard to find in stock. Same for Colt Defenders.
You just have to get lucky IMHO. ALot of people just pre-order them from a distributor. I don't know what the waiting time is nowadays but they are "luxury" items.

Don't recall the model but Bass Pro Shop also had Benelli shotguns on the cheap... $400 range, IIRC. One time when I was at local range, they had a Benelli shotgun in there that was smoother than a baby's bottom... the pump action was like glass on that thing. They wanted $1100 for it (probably worth the money) but now I'm wondering how those $400 are? Suppose I should have fondled it when I had the chance... hahah, guess I might need to accidentally end up on that side of town today.

The talking heads say consumers are to blame because the Feds haven't increased their purchasing of ammo. In fact, orders are shrinking in size this year and in the future under Obama IIRC.
Obama is trying to get us out of there so this makes sense to me.

Just picked up the Magnum Research MDE .380 yesterday. lol I go from saying, "I don't think it's a good gun" to buying one in a matter of a week. The trigger pull is fairly heavy but I like a heavy pull. Also for its size the gun is pretty heavy too, but only b/c it's well made. I prefer a heavier gun anyhow as far as recoil goes. I have yet to shoot the gun, but when I do I'll give a full report. Feels solid and I like how my hands grip the gun for the size.
