many people use some form of copper peptides. They have a regenerative effect on the follicles and promote scalp health in general. The two products most people use are folligen and tricomin.
Tricomin went through FDA 2 trials and was shown to effective for regrowth comparable to about 2% rogaine. Although the tricomin you buy today is probably not as potent it has the same proven copper peptides used in the trial.
Folligen was formulated by the same guy who invented tricomin but uses a hodge podge of random copper peptides at a much higher concentration, like 32x more or something. He claims folligen is more effective but he also owns the company that sells it and i dont know if their are studies to back that up so who knows.
I personally just started using tricomin. It definitely is soothing and is very cosmetically acceptable. From what ive heard folligen can be messier and if you have light hair can turn the hair and scalp a greenish tint. Folligen is much cheaper though like 30 for 8 oz while tricomin is 50 or more for 6 oz and you can dilute the folligen with distilled water a bit to make it last even longer, something you wouldnt want to do with tricomin because its peptides are a longer concentration. I am planning on switching to folligen this summer when i shave my head but since im in college now and have lighter hair i didnt want to deal with greening effect. If you have darker hair and are looking for something cheap folligen is probably you best option. Like i said i havnt used folligen and just started tricomin so i cant comment on their effectiveness but a lot of people use them so hopefully others will chime in about that
good luck man
